Review summary
My wife and I have sailed on quite a few cruises, two on the Magic. On the inaugural cruise of the Magic, we were six hours late leaving and were denied the first and most important port due to a problem with a bow thruster. We went to a little mud hole in Mexico called Progresso instead. We were not given any consideration for the loss of this portion of the cruise or reimbursed for the excursion we paid for in advance. All this we accepted as an exceptable loss because the crew was super friendly, the restaurants were open for breakfast and dinner, and we could sit down and continue to unwind. There is something enjoyable about being waited on first thing in the morning. This was taken away on the Magic on this last cruise, and was our biggest disappointment. Breakfast was served in the restaurant when we were at port, but the menus left much to be desired. As promised we stopped at all the advertised ports, but sadly, many of the crew acted as if they could care less about being on the ship and waiting on guests. My wife and I had to clean tables several times to sit down for a meal in the cafeteria areas, We just piled dishes up on a nearby table as did others wanting a table. The young people go on cruises to party, but for people our age we mostly go to unwind and to be waited on. I suppose the cruising dynamics have changed, so we will look for vacation outlets which meet our desires. We were at sea for four of the seven days (truly a six day cruise as the last couple of hours for the seventh day is for debarkation).Ship experiences
