Review summary

One of my pet peeves was the inability to hear announcements from inside our cabin. By the time I'd get to the door to listen, we'd missed most of the information. We were told that they were not allowed to broadcast into the cabins. That is a really stupid reg if true. As affordable as Carnival is, it still seems to obviously cater to younger pax which will make me reconsider future cruising.

Lines moved well, luggage arrived in a timely manner.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
In the dining room, Several desserts were under cooked, shrimp did not taste fresh, beef was tough. On the Lido deck buffet, Burgers were overcooked, fries were delicious but food in the buffet areas was not very appetizing looking and carved meat was tough and tasteless.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
We went to a few of the onboard seminars but found that the target audience was for a much younger audience. Seniors are at a distinct disadvantage on board.

The "Flick" show was awful and we left after about 20 minutes. Music was too loud and the vocals were off key. Dj's and bands also seemed to think that being loud makes it better. It didn't. The string music in the Atrium in the evening was very good though. The cruise director Markq was one of the most annoying entertainers I've ever heard. His announcements and presentations seemed insincere and condescending. We probably missed some things to do because he was the MC of the event.

Children's Programs

Did not travel with children.

Service and Staff

Our waiter seemed distracted and did not always remember to bring what we asked for. Matre'di and his assistant Dijana, were both wonderful. Dijana, helped us with our dinner seating and remembered us by name every time she saw us.

Ship Quality

Ship is very hard to get around. It took us 3 days to find the serenity deck and then found that I couldn't get to it by elevator. Our cabin was in poor repair and looked like it needed a deep cleaning due to built up dirt and grime in corners and along floors and furniture. Our sofa had a 5 inch rip in it. Tables on Lido deck were not cleaned after pax use in a timely manner. Door frame of our cabin was not wide enough to roll my walker through making entry and exit with it very difficult. The deck of our balcony was pretty dirty. Beds were exceptionally comfortable.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
As stated above. Threshold was too narrow for my walker. Cabin condition was dated and in disrepair and did not feel very well cleaned though our steward did the best he could with what he had to work with. Hair dryer barely worked. Not enough hangers. Only one outlet in room

Ship tip

Book a cabin in the center of the ship so you don't have to walk so far. We heard that the meal at the Steakhouse was excellent. Bring extra hangers and power strips.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Easy to get to.

Nassau, Bahamas

Carnival docks at the very end of the pier so the walking into town is not senior friendly. It was hard to navigate through the street side straw market due to parked cars and traffic making it unsafe. Very hard to get around town with a walker. Shopping is a bit over rated.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

3 out of 5
Poor handicap access and no one seemed to be able to tell us where to go once we got off the tender. The lines to get off the ship were horrific and we kept getting redirected to a different exit. Beach and water was very nice.
