Review summary

If you want a quick, inexpensive cruise, this would be it. But unless you plan to shop in Nassau, I would stay on board the ship and enjoy the pool while most people disembarked. If you are a beach person, Princess Cay is very nice and has a gift shop with over priced t-shirts that you can use your ship's card to purchase. There were also a few local people with some craft booths that required cash.

Embarkation

Getting aboard in Port Canaveral was very easy and quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was mediocre. Our wait staff was most attentive even though they had 8 tables to handle including two tables of 12. The morning buffet was advertised to start at 6:30 but while plates of food covered in plastic were placed on the buffet, there were signs saying the "buffet is closed". People would tear open the plastic wrap even with a staff member telling them it was closed. Buffet food was also disappointing.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There were not enough pool-side chairs and too many children in the pool to find it enjoyable.

Serenity

2 out of 5

Although Serenity was advertised as "adults," several parents brought their young children to the hot tub and pool and none of the staff "reminded" them it was for adults only.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
First night was the SuperBowl and it was awesome to see it on a huge screen. The next night the ship's entertainers did a superb job with an amazing production of song and dance with outstanding choreography and special effects. The third night was a "game show" that was a too long and hokey. I missed the last night - but had heard it was great. The comedians, Doug Williams and Caroline Pickard, did excellent shows -both PG and R-rated and enjoyed them both a lot.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was quite accommodating and our head waiter made sure we were treated very special.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Since the kitchen galley is in the center of the ship, if you are on the 3rd floor, you either had to go up to 5 or down to 2 to get from one end of the ship to the other. Going through the 5th floor, you had to go through the casino and smoking bar which was "breath-taking" (not in a good way), and then the shops which were always crowded so getting through was a little difficult.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was quite warm when we first boarded but cooled down once we were underway. Our steward cleaned it nicely and made sure we had ice each day. The bed was very comfortable.

Ship tip

Be prepared for all types of people - many who have not sailed before and don't know "how to act."

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

It was the port we left from.

Nassau, Bahamas

The reviews of the various excursion options were not very good. We got off the ship and ended up taking a "taxi" tour for $30. The driver indicated he was going to take us to many different places, but it turned out he just drove by and only had us get out at the Atlantis and left us there to shop or gamble for 45 minutes while he went back to the port to get more people. The balance of the tour was very rushed and I would not recommend it either.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

Again the reviews of the excursion options were just fair. I had won the glass bottom boat excursion at the shore excursion "talk". I was really glad I didn't pay $50 for it. While the guide had several samples of sponges to see and touch, we saw maybe 6 fish during the hour long trip - except when we threw stale hot dog buns overboard and fish came up to eat it. But it was interesting that after the "first throw", the fish didn't come back for more. My friend stayed on the beach after the excursion and I took the tender back to the ship. She enjoyed her afternoon there.

Disembarkation

Although there was a slight delay, because the port didn't have enough TSA/Customs officers, overall we got off the ship easier than I have at any other port.
