Review summary

I had a wonderful time but I think I'm getting too old for this "fun ship" style. Seeing a girl in her bra, literally, on Lido eating on elegant night really showed me how low class the clientele has become because Carnival is now so cheap anyone can afford to cruise. Too many college type drunks around the pool and someone smoking weed in a cabin near us really did us in. No one (staff) complained to them or asked them to stop. Smoking of anything in a cabin or balcony is supposedly not allowed.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Excellent embarkation. No problems.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food wasn't that good this cruise. Iron steak was overdone and very tough even when I asked for medium rare. The deli corned beef was mostly fat. Lines are way too long in the lido buffet.

Silver Olympian Restaurant

5 out of 5

Jane and Rafael made dining here a wonderful experience.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Pools were overcrowded. The casino should be non smoking. Many rules should be enforced like smoking where you are not supposed to be smoking. Use of vaping and e-cigarettes, etc.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were awesome and fun. The entertainers really know their stuff.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had I Made and he was wonderful and attentive. Our only disappointed was they had absolutely NO t-shirts for sale the entire trip. When we showed up first day of sailing for the 2/$20 t-shirt sale we were told they hadn't restocked so there were none on the cruise. We always under pack as we buy at least 4-6 shorts each cruise. This was our first time on Liberty so we really wanted some. We are platinum so we have all the other ships.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It's an old ship but it's still beautiful. Could use a few repairs to molding in corridors.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was perfect for the two of us. Our only complaint was we traveled with another couple and they had the cabin next to us, as we requested that. We had planned to open the balcony door separating us but unfortunately the cabins we got were opposite so we couldn't do that. Very disappointing.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

2 out of 5
Locals are horribly pushy and very often rude if you don't buy something.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

5 out of 5
Locals were lovely, didn't push you to buy anything and were very polite.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Platinum self assist and we were off the ship first. Easy and very accommodating to my mom using a walker.

@photoempress right!! My husband and I saved for 2 years just to go on a 3 day Disney cruise without the kids. You definitely get what you pay for!!

@daveshamiller You sound like me talking about a Disney Cruise. I priced out a cruise for my family... let's just say I could by a small car!

I would agree with the OP, however, I'm a little disappointed that my family and I cannot afford the longer cruises or another cruise line. We work hard, raise our children to be respectful and polite, and we are far from "riff raff." Carnival has definitely changed from my first cruise 10 years ago.

That's what you get on shorter cruises, the "weekend warrior"! I like the people better on longer cruises. :)

Your thoughts and observations mirrored mine (just got off a three-day this past Sunday) and continue to see the clientele spiral downward.

Madeline, we are in the same situation! We are going on a four night cruise for our 10 year anniversary with out the kiddos. We normally go on Disney but didn’t want to with out the kids. Hoping the carnival will not be as bad as some are saying on here.

It's all perspective. We can thrive in all groups. Just have fun

Go with a positive attitude. Try to let the good experiences outweigh the bad. I have seen some crazy stuff during my past 10 cruises but I'm not about to let a few bad apples ruin my vacation.

Oh I hate to read this. My husband and I are going on the 3 night for our 10 yr anniversary. We have two small kids and didn’t want to be away for long. My first cruise in over ten years. I hated the first on Royal Caribbean. My husband has use to cruise a lot and he said it was just bad waters. I really hope we have a great time and people do not act completely crazy.

Go in the summer and for longer cruises. It much more expensive and the riff raff can't afford them. I suppose that is harsh but let's face it, turds are now raising turds that have never been taught how to act in society. Just watch the news

That's what you get with the shorter cruise. Only did one once, never again.

If he bothered you why didn’t you complain?

We have given up on Carnival also. Loud, drunk and rude people who refuse to control their kids. On the Carnival Breeze we saw a young couple laying on top of each other on a lounge chair next to the pool. They were grinding while children and the staff stood by and watched. It is shame because we really like the hamburgers and deli sandwiches. We don't miss the cheap shows in the main theater and the lack of live music. Carnival is the K-mart of the cruise industry. Too bad.

Totally agree.... last 3 sailings have been on NCL....

Totaly agree..im platinum with carnival..We go back 20 years with them and just in the last 5 years the crowd has gotten really rowdy and it's nothing more than booze cruising with them.. especially the short cruises that leave from Miami and port canaveral...the only time I cruise with carnival now is out of long beach ,ca..crowd is much more relaxed out of there..I only cruise Royal and NCL out of Florida now.
