Review summary

This was my 2nd cruise, the first being on Royal.  The staff on Carnival was borderline rude.  After speaking with them it's because most are overworked and unhappy.  the food was pretty good, but the service was well below par.  The best part of the cruise ship experience was the Diamond Restaurant. The staff was very professional and seated and served us quickly.  the food was really good as well.

I had issues with a very loud noise that kept me from sleeping 2 nights straight.  They finally came to fix it (after I complained twice - both nights) but their "gift" of covering our meals ($35 for me and my 2 kids) was an insult.  I came on the cruise to relax and that didn't happen.  The trip was for my son's graduation gift and my daughter's 13th birthday gift.

Unless someone GAVE me a cruise, I would not ever cruise with Carnival again.

Ship Quality

I didn't sleep 2 nights straight because of a LOUD noise coming from the ceiling. they later fixed it so I was able to sleep the last night of my cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

There were pieces of paper crammed between the wall and ceiling to keep it from squeaking. The noise was UNBEARABLE. Finally, after complaining 2 nights straight, they came to fix it. I DIDN'T SLEEP THE FIRST 2 NIGHTS OF THE 3 NIGHT CRUISE. Guest Services response - the only reason we are covering your meal is because you had to complain twice. there is nothing more we can do but cover your meal. Most people would not get that.

Ship tip

Don't do it. Spend a little extra for a better cruise line.

I have done several 4 and 5 day cruises with Carnival, and have always found them to be relaxing. It's one of the things I love most about cruising!

I am a travel agent & have been on several lines IF it's relaxation you are after 4 day Carnival cruises are not the right choice. I love Carnival and it's a totally different ball game when you book 7 nights or longer. They are totally different and VERY enjoyable. Don't give up on them just yet, 3 and 4 day cruises are very low priced and it makes availabilty for younger crowds, not saying anything bad about younger people. I am very particular about what cruises I book my guests on, maybe give me a call I would be more than happy to find you the right relaxing Carnival Cruise :) 888-333-3116 ext 6211

After our liberty experience we doubt we will sail Carnival ever again

Carnival are known as "Fun Ships"... it's whole purpose is one of fun and laughter... they are generally much livelier than other lines, certainly livelier than RCCL. We were surprised how loud the partying was on board but soon realised that the fun ship label was a fact rather than just a slogan. Maybe it wasn't the right cruise line if relaxation was you objective.

We had the same experience on the Liberty last June. We have been on the Triumph twice and it was great both time. Everyone friendly. We are going on the Freedom in Sept.
