older ship with good travel agenda

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

this is the 2nd time we went on this cruise  - chosen because of the itinerary.  5 islands - full days to explore and enjoy - in seven days.  Some of the decor and furniture were worn and ship designed in older style.  Dining had a new menu with many choices/varied.  Entertainment good - but needs to be updated and changed a bit. dining and drink staff were great.  room service by all very good.  very disappointed with cruise director and activities.  cut backs were obvious and a bit disappointing.  casino needs something to get rid of some of the smoke.

Cabin / Stateroom
cabin was worn - but clean. room always straightened up immediately - service was great troy was our steward.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
went well. repeated instructions often which seemed to be necessary. need to explain how to get luggage and go thru customs on arrival.
Ship Quality
older ship - always clean, well kept. in spite of some wear.
Onboard Activities boring cruise director. showed up at shows only. expected much more. he was invisible.
Children's Programs
Entertainment
theater needs new shows. 1 comedy act good. need more variety.
Service and Staff
loved our dinner crew, dora, pirhana and >>>>>. we had the best table!
Food and Dining
daytime choices sometimes limited. guys hamburgers and tacos great addition!
San Juan, Puerto Rico
we didnt know we could tour in advance. or after. seemed a secret..... our bus driver over was great!
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
take a taxi to a beach unless you want to shop or can do both. dont need to pay excursion fee
Bridgetown, Barbados good to tour. nice beaches
Castries, St. Lucia
a lot to see and do.
Basseterre, St. Kitts
beach - but excursion driver no help in learning more about island. marriott good for a day.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
gorgeous beach. a lot of island to tour. recommend dutch side.

Tip

the itinerary was great. we have done it twice on different ships. didnt expect a whole lot from carnival - and got even less. cutbacks obvious this cruise. dont look for on board activities to be exciting. each island had something special to offer. some of the younger excursion people need to
