Wow! That's a bit of an exaggeration. Your son probably didn't eat because you didn't feed him! I was on this same cruise. Not only did the staff come around with food and water, but local businesses also catered outside. Not ONLY that, but the guests were encouraged to grab lunch on their own and save the receipt for reimbursement. You're a troll!

You are right. A child feeds from the parents ways. so if the parent is stress then the child is too.

tinatoups    9 years ago

yes you are right was a child gets upset to a point the parents does to. You had great points and I am glad you pointed those out. Your post have been fair and accurate.

tinatoups    9 years ago

i was taken your comment bad hon. I work with kids with different problem. Some people dont understand they want to do things like every other kid. Some parents forget that extra care is needed and just want a smooth sailing. You have to know what to do and how to handle these problems. The parents may have been over whamed with the situation. certain kids dont adapt as quickly as others. But how will they know if their child will have a great time, they dont. Sometimes its worth the shot to try. Because certain aspects of life are not available to these kids , parents are willing to try. Just trying to get people to understand life is not easy for parents with children with challenges.

Tina, the poster never said that the child was Autistic, only that they were Mentally Handicapped. There are many forms of Mental Disability and as sad as it is, and as great as the intentions were to take them on this cruise, ANY number of things in daily life can upset them. If this was a situation that was like when the Carnival Triumph lost all power and were drifting at sea some time ago, I could see the anger because they would have been cooped up on the ship. But in this case, the ship was docked and they were able to get on and off the ship and were provided with food and drink. I feel it may have been the anger and/or worry that the mom was displaying that may have caused the child to react the way they did. People with Mental disabilities tend to react to their surroundings. If the surroundings are upsetting, then their reaction is the same.

guys in defense of this guest, if you have a austic child chance it will affect them. I myself have always had the best treatment and service on the cruises I went on 3 and going on 4 in a few days

Wow you really like to complain.

sheliag    9 years ago

I think that she just want to complain. I understand about the sick child. he might have been nervous. But as a parent you have responsibles. One was to take care of him. It is not the job of the carnival. If you want to complain go somewhere else.

sailing on the Liberty in 43 days for my 1st cruise....I wasn't even worried when I 1st heard about the fire, I know Carnival would take care of everyone... just glad no one was hurt. We went to Miami 11 years ago and the valet at resort completely ripped my top off of my truck... only ruined my vacation for about 3 hrs dealing with police, manager and auto repair ... my point, stuff happens!!!

140 days til my cruise on Carnival Liberty!! gonna be the best birthday ever!!

ajdempsie    9 years ago

Op might have gotten food but their son might have refused to eat because he was scared or worried. Depending on the disability, some people can have those tendencies. As for St. Thomas, I have not been there yet but will be there on the New Year's cruise on the Sunshine. I'm sure there is plenty to see and do since I have talked to people that have been there, and they all really liked it and wanted to go back.

Let's see free cruise, food supplied from many sources, stuck on my favorite island, sounds like Hell to me.

chrisgreg14    9 years ago

Patricia142 I spent a lot of time in the islands growing up and definitely can't say we had any boring times. I also have many friends in St Thomas who are from there. Some people will just be miserable regardless. Peace my Sistren.

Patricia142    9 years ago

Now that the way to go chrisgreg 14 hate the fails negative comments about St Thomas my birth place and were I choose to live until the end. Enjoy yor cruise and do cone back to St Thomas to visit your always welcome

chrisgreg14    9 years ago

I agree CruisingForLife we were on that same ship and give the ship staff a thumbs up for what they did to keep order and ensure we ate and had water. I would not only cruise the Liberty again but just booked the Carnival Victory with others that were on the Liberty last week.

Patricia142    9 years ago

That such a unfair and bad review because carnival and in port went above and beyond the call of duty to make the passengers comfortable even the St Thomas tourism dept was there with water and food. I will be on the Liberty in 16 days and will have a blast . Be greatful that in wasn't serious. I was born and live on St Thomas with opportunity to move and there is no place I would love to live but here. Sorry you didn't enjoy my island but you welcome back anytime.

OMG....poor you.   Being stuck on a Caribbean Island, it must have been Honorable,  a living nightmare with no A/C, No Food,  no toilets and no place to stay.....  OH HANG ON you had  free lodging, free food on the ship, A/C and all ship hotel services running.

You were not forced to stay on the ship,  they would have flown you home for free. So you were not stuck there,  it was your free will to stay and use the ship as a free hotel, restaurant and entertainment for the 4 days.

I'm sorry that your cruise did not go as planned but it still sounds like a nice free vacation to me.

I thought CCL handled this above and beyond the call of duty.  I think they handled it 1st class.  They refunded you 100% of the cruise,  Gave you $ 150.00 OBC,  % off your next cruise,  set up a hotel banquet room with drinks, snacks and A/C until you were able to return to the ship.  They gave you the option of being flown home or staying out the week and using the ship as a floating resort for free.

Just be thankful that nobody was injured, it happened in port and CCL took care of you 1st rate.  You run a risk every day and everywhere you go, this matter was taken care off excellent by CCL.

You have to chalk it up to @$it happens!! We stayed at our timeshare resort in Aruba some years ago and even though Aruba is not in the Hurricane belt, it got the outskirts of Hurricane Felix. We lost power for 12 hours yet we all (the members of the timeshare) went to the resorts beach where they were BBQing the food from the restaurant in the hopes of using it "at no charge". My points, things happen EVERYWHERE that can cause issues on your vacation and we made the best of a bad situation. We had a blast. Would we stay there again? No question!!! See where I'm going here......?

violet123    9 years ago

You got it for free PLUS $150 obc per person PLUS 50% off your next cruise PLUS you were in the Caribbean. Everyone else was just thankful nobody was hurt and understands things happen. I'm leaving in 22 days and CANT WAIT!

lauranzack    9 years ago

well if you had it so bad did you decline your refund...discount towards next cruise and on board credit too? ??? just sayin

sdomres    9 years ago

st. Thomas would not be a bad place to be stuck!

Bilbo1369    9 years ago

Everybody is safe. The cruise line reimbursed everyone and gave them a future cruise. I say it's a win.

honeydewemt    9 years ago

I personally would love to be "stranded" in St Thomas for 4 days. Having to not pay for lodging would be an added bonus.

sweetwind01    9 years ago

looking for attention, are we?

Been on it and going again. Never had a problem when I sailed on it.
