04/19-26/15 Southern Carribean Review

Sail Date: April 19, 2015

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

I've cruised with Royal Carribean once, Costa once and Norwegian twice.  This was my first and last cruise with Carnival.

Our dislikes:  outdated décor, small pools, unfriendly staff in the buffet dining on the Lido deck, stateroom was too cold and couldn't get it comfortable until two nights before the cruise was over.  I only saw hand sanitizer nightly when entering the Silver Olympian dinning room and then at the gangway once when re-boarding the ship and it was empty.  Shouldn't we have seen it everywhere to help prevent the spread of germs.  The meals in the Silver Olympian dining room were o.k. but seemed to be very limited on the likeability.  Food on the Lido deck was just food, nothing to get excited about.  We were disappointed that guests weren't grouped together in the dining room for socialization.  We ate by ourselves every night except once when we invited another couple we met on an excursion to join us.

Likes:  our stateroom attendant was very accommodating as was the serving staff in the Silver Olympian dining room and ice cream was available 24/7.  Disembarkation went smoothly and was organized and the Carnival pre-arranged transportation to and from the airport/cruise terminal was timely and without delays.  There were a good number of excursions to choose from in each port.

Ship Quality
outdated
Food and Dining
nothing specatular, mostly the same items every day
Service and Staff
formal dining staff and stateroom attendant were great
Entertainment
not much to choose from
Children's Programs n/a
Onboard Activities
not much to choose from
Destinations and Excursions
Cabin / Stateroom
The bed was very comfortable but the room was outdated.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
we were in need of a pharmacy when we arrived in port and were glad to find one right on the pier.
Bridgetown, Barbados
Castries, St. Lucia
Great tour guide named Denver on the 'Top 10 Island Tour'.
Basseterre, St. Kitts We were notified my a letter upon boarding the ship in San Juan that there was a prboblem with the thrusters and we wouldn't be able to dock in St. Kitts s they took us to Antigua instead.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
it's hard to rate St. Maarten. We waited until the night before arriving in St. Maarten and the three excursions that we were interested in were completely booked. So maybe that measns the excursions in St. Maarten were great.

Tip
