Great itinerary, good ship

Sail Date: October 06, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Suite

The ship was a good size, plenty of space even on days at sea. We could easily find a sunbed and quiet space. Some of the decor was a bit worn and tired, particularly in the public areas. The ship was very clean - I just hated the smell of cigarette smoke in unavoidable public areas.

Pros: The itinerary

Cons: Smoking smells from other people's cabins, the casino and on deck

Recommends Carnival Liberty? Yes!

Ship Quality
Size of ship and facilities were good but a little worn
Food and Dining
Dining times were good - and 24 hr room service available should you get Hungary in your cabin. We preferred eating in the dining room rather than Emile's buffet which was too busy and wasn't the best of quality. The pizza and burger bars were enjoyable.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were on Deck 7 aft with a stateroom and balcony right at the very stern of the ship - cabin 7446. Very clean, loved the balcony, loads of storage space and bathroom was a good size compared to other cruise ships. Again some of the furniture and decor was a bit tired - could do with an upgrade.
Service and Staff
Some staff were fab - Darios in the Alchemy Bar and Andi the bartender from the Golden Olympian dining room. Others just wanted to sell you extras -waitress in the dining room, who's name I didn't catch but she annoyed the hell out of me because she didn't like that I only wanted a glass of wine and not a bottle. The spa / beauty salon is just one big sell on any product that they have to hand - very irritating.
Entertainment
They have guest entertainers sometimes for the big shows who were excellent but the house entertainers, although enthusiastic, were very amateur - like going to your local school for their latest production. The onboard magician was good and very amusing.
