Nice Cruise, Disappointed in upgrades

Sail Date: December 10, 2011

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

The ship was built in 2005. Just this year they took it out of commission for a few months in the dry dock and completed "Fun Ship 2.0" upgrades. Was expecting a lot more upgrades than we saw...looks like the only thing they changed was adding the two pubs to the Lido deck.

Recommends Carnival Liberty? Yes!

Ship Quality
Enjoyed the layout of the Carnival Magic much more. not a lot of spaces for just hanging out. Noticed that a lot of the furniture is getting worn; also noticed dust built up on a lot of the ship fixtures...shouldn't they have given it a thorough cleaning when it was in dry dock?
Cabin / Stateroom
I was expecting a small stateroom, having been on 6 previous cruises. however, i feel that the housekeeping staff should pay more attention to detail; felt that the cleaning done to our room was sub-par and our bathroom smelled gross. Also recommend getting better vacuum cleaners than shop vacs as the carpet in our room was never as clean as i would expect.
The dance team on the Liberty was very impressive. We went to 5 of the evening shows and each of them were outstanding entertainment. The cruise director, Butch, was one of the best we've ever had. Also suggest not having photographers available every night of the cruise. they clogged the Promenade deck so it was impassable and by the end of the week were becoming high pressure. Suggest photographers should be available both formal nights and one or two of the casual nights. not all 7 nights.
Food and Dining
Harry's Steakhouse was unbelievably good. The service and food were outstanding. The regular dining room dinners were superb as well. Was impressed that our head waiter, Luis, memorized our names and used them each night of the trip.
