First Experience with Carnival

Room Type: Inside

The ship was wonderful, the ports were great. Our only complaint was the room. The size of the room was what we expected, but our room (7226) was DIRECTLY above the "Venetian Palace" theater and we could hear everything word-for-word. The shows didn't end until 11:30 at night, which was obnoxious especially when we were going on early morning excursions. They offered earplugs. As such, I recommend higher decks (8+). The food was wonderful, especially the Steakhouse "Harry's". At $30 extra/person, it was well worth the 5 course meal. The pools were a little disappointing, and were very small/crowded, but it is a cruise, after all. Mini-golf was really fun. The cruise director makes an announcement every 2-3 hours over the loudspeaker, which gets annoying. But overall we had a great experience.

Recommends Carnival Liberty? No.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica
We did the "River Tubing" excursion, and that was a lot of fun. They expect a lot of tips in Jamaica though, so just be conscious. If you shop: haggle, haggle, haggle.
George Town, Grand Cayman
This was really fun. It was $5/person to take a taxi to 7-mile-beach and for $5 each we rented snorkel masks. It was a beautiful beach and we had a lot of fun just relaxing for like $30 for the day.
Cozumel, Mexico
We walked around and didn't do an excursion, but there's not a lot to do downtown other than little shops and there aren't any good beaches near there. I would recommend doing an excursion, but I heard the ruins on Cozumel itself were meager. Renting a moped/scooter might be fun.
