Sail Date: February 01, 2010 Ship: Carnival Liberty Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Family (older children) Reviewed: 8 years ago
We were on the Carnival Liberty- the ship is not that old, but the decor make it appear older as to style. Sailing was great even when we had rough seas!
Food and Dining

Very, very dissapointed in our dining room table location. We were put at a table which was literally placed right at one of the dining room doorways! HATED that! There was NO excuse for putting a table that close to the doorway.
Food was OK. Breakfast and lunch was fine- many choices, but the dinners were dissapointing. Fish was not fresh- it was frozen, meats were not as tender as they should have been for their cut, yet some of the food was good. The level of the food was not what I have seen on other cruises. even the desserts were dissapointing.
Our wait staff was GREAT- although we seemed to be served last everynight. I think the cause of this was too many tables assigned to each of the head waiters.

while the shows were good, the delivery of them needs help. The dancers were not in sync with each other- need more practice. And while I can imagine it would be hard to dance on a moving ship, i have been on other cruises where this was not an issue.
Singers were not the best either. I felt like they thought the louder they were the better they would sound- it was not. sometimes it was so loud you could not understand what they were singing.
Great hypnotist though!!

could be due to the age group (15-17yr olds) but the activites were dissapointing. The arcade was a poor excuse for an entertainment center for kids.
Service and Staff

The staf remembered our names- all the time- no matter where we were. our dining room staff was great- they paid attention to the small details. After our first night, they remembered what we drank and had it ready for us each night. My son is a picky eater and they went out of the way to accomdate him as to what he wanted for dinners.
Bar staff always ready to assist yo and obtain your drink order and delievery was great and very timely.

Ship's layout was a little confusing as there are only a few floors that actually spanned the whole ship. you had to keep going up and down floors to make it from one side of the ship to the other. Public areas were kept clean.
Cabin / Stateroom

We had a balcony room - balcony was small- it fit 2 chairs with a small table in between but there was very little room to actually sit out there. not enough room for the 3 of us unless we stood in the small space between the front of the chairs and the plexiglass of the balcony railing.
Stateroom was kept very clean and our steward was great.
Drawback was that we were on a level above a few of the bars and entertaining areas- and it felt like the muscians were in our room- they need better soundproofing of the floors above the main entertainment areas.
Pros: just being away and in the sun!
Cons: not quite up to the standards i have seen on other cruise lines
