A cruise forgotten

Sail Date: May 26, 2007

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Inside

Ship is beautiful. It is difficult to go from one end to the other except on specific decks. Maps at the elevators are small, hard to read, and need much more illumination. Lido is good. The grills would not open at listed times. The cooks/servers were frequently abrupt/curt and not willing to listen. The Grand Buffet and Chocolate Buffet were not given sufficient notice so that one could plan activities to attend. Ship gift shops lacked sufficient small personal items and were overpriced. No attempt was made to control the very late night carousing/laughing/yelling in the halls.

Pros: Food ,wait staff, and the cruise director staff

Cons: Lack of interesting things to do. Cabin staff.

Recommends Carnival Liberty? No.

Ship Quality
Very clean, insufficient maps to indicate where rooms were. Floor level of theatre was flat making it difficult to see past people toward the stage. Balcony was better. Public area restrooms poorly marked.
Food and Dining
Wait staff were excellent. Matre'd was very good. Service was good to excellent. Food was varied and of good quality.
Cabin / Stateroom
Cabin was frequently not made up until just before noon. Cabin steward didn't come to work until 7am. Size of stateroom was about the size of other cruise lines. Bed was adequate. Bathroom good.Comfortable.
Entertainment
General lack of variety of games. Trivia and bean bag toss were about it. Other cruise lines offer golf activities (mini)/ Name that tune/ quiz of the day (library)/tour of the kitchen/ping pong/shuffleboard/other things. Carnival seemed to just want to push drinks and the casino.
Service and Staff
Cruise director staff was good to excellent. Those doing maintenance activities were silent and not overly friendly. I had to pry to get the cabin steward to give his name.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Biggest problem is arriving at 5pm. No time to go see much. Went on Historic Tour of Old San Juan. Others in my party went horseback riding. History = avg Riding = excellent. Need a more detailed map to know where to go. Might consider reversing order of ports to get into San Juan with more time.
St. John's, Antigua
No tour. OK Shopping. Hated being dunned for a taxi every 2 steps.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Good shopping. Did not visit restaurant. Some of the "information" given on the Blackbeard Tour was patently incorrect. Very nice landscapes
Don't Miss: View of harbor from on high
Nassau, Bahamas
Historic Tour and Pirates Museum was a bust. It was raining off and on and there was little to see and less to get out and do. Museum was very poor.
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.
Avg shopping. Lack of public restrooms. No tour
