Truly a "Funship"!!

Sail Date: March 17, 2007

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Inside

Our 8-day cruise on Carnival Liberty was very enjoyable, from the entertainment to the shore excursions. There was always something fun to do!! The food at every meal was very good, and the waiters and busboys in the dining room were awesome!! Our room steward always seemed to be there when we needed something, and everyone had a smile and a "hello" as you walked down the hallways.
The only thing we weren't pleased with was Camp Carnival. My daughter didn't think there was a lot for kids her age to do. However, she found many other fun things to do on the ship , like going down the cool water slide on Lido Deck and going to the Karaoke bar and the shows with us---we all enjoyed the Liberty dancers!!! The 24 hour pizzeria was also a hit. We all had a great time and will definitely go again!!

Pros: The shows were very entertaining, and the food was awesome!!

Cons: Camp daughter (age 11) felt like she was being "babysat"

Recommends Carnival Liberty? Yes!

Ship Quality
Everything was very clean and it was obvious that every employee takes great pride in their work.
Cabin / Stateroom
Small but tolerable. Next time we'll get an outside stateroom with a window since my husband tends to be claustrophobic in the inside stateroom, but since most of our time was spent outside the stateroom, it was OK. Our room steward was very attentive and always had our room spotless.
Children's Programs
There didn't seem to be much for 11 year olds in Camp Carnival. Playstation2 and a DDR were the only things there that were for her age group and she had to stay in the same area as the younger kids. (2-8 year olds)
Food and Dining
The food was awesome!!! Many different menu items every night and the desserts were incredible!!
Service and Staff
Our waitstaff in the Silver Olympian dining room were so cool!! By the 2nd or 3rd night, they knew everyone's preferences (water, tea, sugar, Splenda, etc..) amd always had things ready for us when we got there!!
Excellent family-friendly shows!! The dancers were awesome, and Todd (cruise director), Bonnie, William, and James were great in their skits!! My daughter bought the "cruise highlights" DVD so she can remember all the fun we had!
Colon, Panama
The aerial tram was really cool....the only downside is that it was described in the shore excursions as being a 72 minute tram ride through the Rainforest and an Ecological tour. It was a 20 minute tram ride through the rainforest and 45 minutes walking through an orchid nursery, a butterfly house, and a serpentarium, which none of us were too keen on.
Don't Miss: If you can get to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort, it's a beautiful place to visit in the middle of nowhere!!
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
We did the Jungle Beach Break excursion and it was nice....a bus took us about 30 miles to a beach that had chairs and hammocks set up, and a little shop. My kids did the Clear Kayaking and said it was "awesome"
Puerto Limon, Costa Rica
The Adventure Canals tour was great--we got to see monkeys, sloths, a crocodile, and some cool birds. Kids did the White Water Rafting and had a great time.
