Carnival Legend Cruise Review to Caribbean - Western
Review SummaryRecently sailed on a Western Caribbean cruise out of Tampa on the Legend. We got off to a disappointing start that was not the cruise lines fault but we learned air line insurance is a good idea. Fog delayed the docking until late afternoon causing certain passengers to miss flights. Once on board for us, however, everything went well. We have sailed other lines and rate this cruise high. In particular, while the staff was traditionally from around the world, they spoke English and communicated better than past experience on other lines. The buffet food for breakfast and lunch was quite good. We made it a point however to eat dinner at the dinning room choosing the anytime casual option because the food was very good. Since retiring from a professional occupation with traditional suit & tie we prefer casual for vacations. The staff from cabin steward to dining could not have been better. Dinning staff were very personable and exceptional in service. Dinning room desserts were definitely better than the buffet.
We appreciated the family friendly early comic shows. While the dancing productions were entertaining they seemed too similar with lots of costume changes, different music but the same steps. A big plus was the access to amenities. The exercise room opened early eliminating waiting for equipment to be free. Lounge chairs could typically be accessed when wanted and usually in prime spots. We really liked the pools on this boat with a shallow shelf. The free Serenity (adults only) deck was a big hit.
We selected the Dolphin Swim & Ride with Lunch in Costume because we had such an exceptional time doing a Dolphin swim in Grand Cayman before. The excursion in Costume was even more exceptional with groups of four interacting one on one in the water with various dolphin for the better part of an hour. The best was the individual ride to shore holding onto the dolphins fins. My wife giggled like a schoolgirl. Lunch was very good with excellent service.
