Laid back cruising

Sail Date: September 01, 2009

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Balcony

We booked this trip 2 weeks before sailing for a New Years Cruise so we got a great deal on 2 balcony cabins. We have cruised on Royal, Princess, NCL, and Holland this was our first Carnival cruise. Ship decor is a little loud but although the ship was fully booked we never ran into crowds it felt like having the ship to ourselves. Carnival has a much more laid back feel and after all we heard about Carnival in the past we were not expecting much but we where pleasantly surprised by the staff and ship. Waitstaff was great, room stewardess was great. All the staff were friendly and on task. Ship was clean. Food was ok not great, but we don't cruise for the food. Ports were great. We are booking again on Carnival for the laid back relaxed feel. My kids enjoyed the kids club ages 9 and 10, they had several fun evenings including a "stay up as late as you can night" My son and daughter came back to the room at 3am. Youngest daughter 4 stayed a couple of hours each day and had fun.

Pros: Ship never felt crowded

Recommends Carnival Legend? Yes!
