Don't Do It

Sail Date: March 01, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Inside

We had never heard good reviews of Carnival from past cruisers, but we decided to give it a try anyway since we had already gone on other cruise lines. Big mistake! Upon arrival, the check-in crew was slightly rude considering this was supposed to be a "fun ship." Plus, there was never anything to do on-board. Sure, you can waste your money away gambling, but as for other activities there was absolutely nothing. One of the "parties" on-board was supposed to start at 9 PM. Well, the staff didn't show up until 11 PM to get things going. By that point, almost everyone had left. Also, if you like the dining experience aboard a cruise ship, DON'T DO Carnival. The food was ALWAYS cold and there seemed to be the same thing every night. As for our excursion, we got RIPPED off. We took a canopy tour in Belize and the guides told us not to bring our cameras because they would take pictures and provide a CD for purchase after the excursion. The CD cost us $50 for 5 people. That was the most expensive blank CD we ever purchased to date. When we returned home and put the CD in our computer in was completely blank! After calling Carnival to tell them about what happened, they informed us that they were not responsible, even though we purchased the excursion through them. This was after 2 weeks of being jerked around by Carnival. Finally, the last 2 days of the cruise at sea everyone aboard, including the staff as well as ourselves, were sick because Carnival knowingly followed a storm path even though they could have changed course.

Pros: Hard to say...

Cons: Getting ripped off by the excursion companies, dining room food was cold, and the last two days were driven right through a storm

Recommends Carnival Legend? No.

Cabin / Stateroom
We had 5 guests in our group and booked well in-advance to get two rooms next to each other. Upon arrival, our rooms were on opposite ends of the ship.
Entertainment
There was not a variety of anything to do aboard this ship, in fact, there was hardly anything to do. The variety shows were beyond tacky. The first show we went to we couldn't even sit through the whole thing. And, the activities they scheduled were the same way. The guests looks so bored. Most of the time, the staff look bored themselves.
Food and Dining
We mentioned it above, but the dining room food was ALWAYS cold and there wasn't a good selection.
Service and Staff
None of the staff did anything exceptional on this ship. In fact, they didn't even associate with the guests. During the "party" that was supposed to start at 9 PM the staff didn't show up until 11 PM.
