Sail Date: March 01, 2008 Ship: Carnival Legend Cabin Type: Oceanview Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 10 years ago
The decor of the interior is very nice, of a mythological theme. There was always something to do, if you wanted to do it. The staff is very courteous and friendly, especially the hospitality staff. The ports of call are all good. Truffles, the main dining room, is amazing, the wait staff is very friendly and entertaining, they seem to be having fun. The food is very good. In Grand Cayman, if you don't do an excursion, you can take a bus to the public beach, don't walk, its like 4 miles. Cozumel is very touristy when you get off the boat. We tried the adventure park excursion and it was a great deal. Belize, you can get any of the tours that carnival offers for much cheaper if you book once your off the boat. In Roatan, the locals are very pushy trying to sell you things, so its a good idea to book a tour or a driver on the boat if you don't like that. Like Belize, you can get the tours much cheaper off the boat.
Food and Dining

We had the late seating of the dining room, and the food was awesome. They had a very good variety, I never saw the same thing twice. Usually there would be food from many different genres, as opposed to having a theme for the night. The Lido deck dining, which was cafeteria style, was very good, you can get just about anything. They have different areas for different types of food. The only problem I had was that the hours for each area were different each day, so it was hard to know without looking it up on the caper what would be open. Room service was a nice treat, if you want a bagel or such at 3 am, they'll bring it to you, free of charge.

There is always something to do! there almost always some kind of seminar, trivia session, quiz game, speciality show, and many other things. There is no "specialty" activity on this boat, e.g., an ice skating rink, but there is a water slide and mini golf on the top deck. The theater troupe on this ship is very professional and good, some of the comedy routines were good, some of the shows were not that good.
Service and Staff

The staff was very good, the hospitality staff and upper level staff would always greet you, and if you had met before they would almost always remember you and your name. As most of the staff are from other countries, miscommunication sometimes happens. Sometimes the cocktailing staff are spotty, either missing you completely or asking you multiple times during the show. They also take your photo about 100 times on the ship.

The ship is very nice. Everything is perfectly clean. The decor is very grand, almost ostentatious, but in a good way. It has a "legendary", mythological theme to it. Some of the layout was a little confusing, we had to go through the theater to find the video game lounge.
Cabin / Stateroom

We booked an interior room, but were upgraded to an ocean view. The window was a little dirty, but other than that, it was very good quality. They cleaned 2 or 3 times a day. The room itself was a nice surprise, my last cruise the room was tiny and bare, but this room was very nice, the space was very well managed, the decor was toned down a little from the rest of the ship, and was generally very nice. I would recommend getting an ocean view at least, its worth it.
Pros: The room, the staff we're excellent, the decour, and the food
Cons: Some issues in some of the ports, the Lido deck food stations hours were erratic
