Review summary

In gereral it was well worth the money (got a last minute deal). There were a lot of travel agents and special rate people on the cruise. Also I understood that it was only at 70% capacity (and still crowded). Few kids on this boat, and a lot of experienced cruisers. Food outside the main dinning rooms was only fair; feeding was 24 hours and a line all the time. Excursion were good and diversed. Entertainment was very mixed; many great shows, some very poor artists (the jazz band sounded and looked like a few college kids getting together for the first time and trying to jam together).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
late night dinning was great; main meals were good. Main dinning hall service was poor and slow; workers were overworked and tired (think they are having labor problems)

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The main shows were the best part of the cruise. Side shows or bar room music were poorer than most.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
think they were experiencing labor problems; a lot of unhappy campers, making service poor with an attitude. Quality of service was mixed (cutting too many places)

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
layout is great, very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
very nice and well kept. Stateroom was larger than most, and very clean.

Ports of call

Fort-De-France, Martinique

5 out of 5
great island; must explore the rain forest and botanic gardens

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
too small; not alot to do outside the beaches; shopping stunk.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Had a great time exploring the rain forest and playing with the green monkeys

Pros: ship was well maintained and of good size. big event entertainment was great; small shows were below par. Food had its better moments; snacks were good.

Cons: Carnival knows their cruisers; they do an excellent job where it counts (main shows, main dinning room food) and skims on other areas (breakfast, bar room entertainment). The pools were too small and were like stew pots with bodies wall to wall. Drinks are circulated about and pushed.

Recommends Carnival Legend? Yes!
