Review summary

Wanted a fun 50th birthday getaway with my husband. Kids are teens and in college. Have cruised before on larger and newer ships. Live nearby so we knew to expect an older "booze cruise". We bought the Cheers drink package which was great for us as we didn't have to worry about the bill adding up. So many different types of people and yet everyone got along because we were all having a great time. It is really a FUN ship. Everyone smiling and laughing. I would do it again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived at the cruise terminal around 11:30 and were on the ship within 5 minutes. Extremely easy and organized. Very friendly happy workers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Guy's Burgers were great! The Mexican stand was great too. Too long lines for pizza and sandwiches. MDR was good for meals though it wasn't the BEST food but it was satisfying. The Carnival chocolate cake is to die for!!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did not use the pool or jacuzzis as there were too many little kids in them. We hung out at the Adult's Only area and it was really nice.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The only shows we saw were the comedians (terrific!) and the waiters in the MDR. We did hear some singers in the Atrium bar and it all added to a very fun Vegas-y vibe.

Children's Programs

Left the kids at home as they are teens and would have been bored. Not much for kids to do on this ship honestly. This is a party cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room attendant was fabulous. Her name was Ni. She made my birthday so festive with room decor. The waiters in the MDR were great and attentive too. The bartenders were friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was very clean. Old and dated design but it adds to the charm. Layout was easy and good for us.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had Grande Suite U89. It was very spacious and very clean. Room was decorated for my birthday. Balcony was perfect and close to water. We were near everything and didn't have to walk far to anything. I was worried there would be a sewer smell but there was none at all. It is worth it to book a balcony and a grande suite. Quiet too.

Ship tip

Go into it knowing it is not stellar class and it is a FUN party ship. You will enjoy your time and want to return if you have that mindset.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
Port is clean and beautiful. We live just 15 minutes away so it was a great Uber drive.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
I was surprised how pretty this port and city are! We did the ATV/wine tour and loved it! The winery and drive was so beautiful! Papas and Beer is something to be experienced.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Took a bit longer than embarkation as everyone takes their luggage off themselves. It was sad to leave the fun short vacation behind.
