Windy and cold but fun

Sail Date: December 21, 2015

Reviewed: 9 months ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Oceanview

Winds were too high so we weren't able to dock in Catalina.  The crew did a quick shift but the activities (bingo) weren't that engaging and everyone was getting stir crazy.  Dining room food was great but Lido hot buffet lunch not so much.  The salad bar and pizza was great but more variety in the hot buffet would have been good.  The Carribian (sp) was offered 2 days in a row and it was not good.  The ice cream machine 24/7 made my 12 year old very happy. Maybe a popcorn machine for a healthier snack would be good too.

The crew, wait staff and especially our stewart (Bagus) were awesome.  Bagus just seemed to be right there everytime we needed him and he was an absolute delight and professional.

We will cruise again.

Cabin / Stateroom
Our room was kept exceptionally clean and tidy, again Bagus was awesome. Always love and look forward to the towel animals. Maybe a couple of luggage racks to free up the chairs that were holding suitcases but overall incredibly happy with the room.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Incredibly smooth, in fact we were off the ship before our scheduled time.
Ship Quality
Destinations and Excursions
Had a fabulous time on our horseback ride in Ensenada. Jose, our guide from the ranch was great.
Onboard Activities
The evening entertainment was good but during the day there wasn't much. Because of the bad weather swimming wasn't really an option and that severely limited activities especially for the kids. 2 ping pong tables and mini golf were the only free activities. Arcarde games should be free, not $1 per game.
Children's Programs
Service and Staff
Our steward, Baugus was incredible. He was very professional but also fun and a delight to work with.
Food and Dining
Dining room was great, as was pizza and salad bar. Hot lunch buffet needed help, same food was offered 2 days in a row and it wasn't good.
Long Beach (Los Angeles), California
Ensenada, Mexico
Take an excursion outside of town. The town is a little sketchy and depressing but outside of that area the country is beautiful and amazing. Would have enjoyed a surfing excursion if it had been offered.
