Not a party boat, but not really family friendly either.

We have several children 12 and under, picked this cruise because it was cheap and wanted to try a cruise with the kids. Wish we had just paid more.  Carnival is fine but it doesn't have the entertainment and conveniences that other cruise lines have. Kids club isn't even convenient and they don't do all the fun stuff they advertise, and kids don't really want to go there unless there's a craft.  Plus they close the kids club to get ready for dinner which is a pain because the only fun time at the kids club is during the late afternoon crafts so the kids want to do that part, and want to go to the kids dinner so they don't have to go to the dinning room but the closed time doesn't make sense.  They need to just hire one more staff member and keep it open. Also for under 2 they say there's babysitting but it's such random short hours when they allow it so it's pretty much useless.  The room service isn't good food, basically sandwiches.   All in all with kids I would spend a little more and have more entertainment and better food at all hours.  Princess cruises was much better.

Ship Quality
Bars don't seem safe. Huge gaps kids could fall out of or under.
Food and Dining
Room service options bad. Bad pizza. Soft serve ice cream makes kids happy that's open 24 hours a day. But all in all not good food.
Service and Staff
Room attendant was great. Other staff not so helpful.
Not enough going on, we got bored
Children's Programs
My 12 year old was happy cause they let then leave and roam the ship. Kids club was not too fun and weird hours. Too much free time not enough crafts. A lot of stuff they want you to pay extra for.
Onboard Activities
Destinations and Excursions
Cabin / Stateroom
No complaints. Cabin was nice. Would have been nice if there were clocks as your phone doesn't update right. Bring a watch or clock. Especially if you don't have a window. You don't know if you should be getting up for the day or if it's 3 am
Long Beach (Los Angeles), California
Catalina Island, California
Ensenada, Mexico
No beach or anything. Your basically going to a swap meet. That's it. Go to a different Mexico port if you can afford it, this is like going to downtown la on vacation.

Fun for a cheap quick get away. But not an amazing vacation. More for relaxing not entertainment or convenience.
