Spring Break Cruise - met expectations

Sail Date: March 12, 2012

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Oceanview

Overall Spring Break cruise was good. The food was ample and average quality. The waitstaff were very attentive and the steward excellent. Staterooms were clean, maintained, and as good as expected. The embarkation and debarkation were smooth. The childrens programs were good for Ages 15 and above, but sadly very disappointing for Ages 12-14. This signficantly reduced the overall experience for children and parents alike. See commments below. Because this was during "Spring Break", expect many drunk college age kids, including profanity and no room in ANY of the hot tubs during the entire cruise. This is not a fault of Carnival, simply the timing of the cruise.
The shore experiences were nice - Catalina Island as well as Mexico. Overall, good memories and enjoyable.

Pros: friendly staff and clean ship

Cons: childrens program very lacking

Recommends Carnival Inspiration? Yes!

Ship Quality
Children's Programs
This was the most disappointing part of the cruise. The Club O2 for Ages 15-17 was good. The Age 12-14 Group was very disappointing. After the first evening, child requested to stay in stateroom for remainder of cruise. Even after bringing up concerns of bullying and behavior to Age 12-14 staff, was given empty excuses and no suggestions on how they would improve or even make it a "safe" environment for the children. Often found the staff of this age group to be completely disengaged with the children and off in corner talking amongst themselves.
Food and Dining
Ample quantity of food, but quality was simply average. Wait staff was great. The food comments apply to both the lunching areas as well as the dinners.
Cabin / Stateroom
Stateroom was ample sized, clean, and met all expectations.
Service and Staff
Dining room staff and steward were excellent. Kids program directors were hit and miss. Cruise Director really over-promised and under-delivered on kids programs and some of the shows.
Shows were average, nothing like, say, "Vegas", but better than high school musicals. Comedians were also okay, but not tremendous. The entertainment was as one might expect on a cruise ship. Would add that the piano bar talent was exceptional!
