Ugh. A big disappointment!

Sail Date: February 17, 2007

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We were initially very excited about our cruise, but found that many aspects of it fell quite flat. The drinks are expensive ($5-$7) and soda is not included! The ship was swarming with children who were not effectively blocked off from adult-only areas like one of the three hot tubs. We found much of the decor to be somewhat tacky and were uninterested in the daily bingo rounds (yawn!). We did enjoy our dining on board and most of the food was pretty good (though some of it got me violently ill at the end of our trip). The service in our stateroom was very good and we had no complaints about size, location, etc. The towel animals on our bed every night were very amusing and cheered us up some. There were other minor irritations like the hot tub closing at 11pm and the comedian on board not being funny, but what really bothered us most, I think, was being nickled and dimed to death. Also, in Grand Caymen, our stop was only 5 hours -- including time to get from ship to shore and back again -- and started at 7am. Give us the day there!

Pros: The waterslide was fun and the dining was generally pretty good.

Cons: There were children *everywhere* (500 on board!) and the drinks were really expensive.

Recommends Carnival Inspiration? No.

George Town, Grand Cayman
The weather was crappy, so we mostly stuck to town. There isn't much there if you won't want to go shopping or get drunk.

We LOVED visiting the Mayan ruins at Tulum and made a quick visit to the beach at Playa del Carmen, which was very nice. I also heard other people say great things about Playa, like food, drinks (very cheap), shopping, etc. The beach was accessible, free, and gorgeous!
