Do not cruise if you are pregnant!

Sail Date: July 03, 2006

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

*Dirty; especially the women's bathrooms and pools.
*EXPENSIVE; everything on the ship was three times the amount that was advertised.
*Boring; nothing really to do other than cheesy parlor games, gambling in a very small and smoky casino, and going to four bars that served over-priced, watered-dwon drinks. Besides, being pregnant, there's nothing to do on the ship other than get run over by the hundreds of kids clamoring to get into the swimming pool or cut in front of the buffet lines.
*There is no seperate area for children and if there is, it wasn't utlilized. Many adults that we conversed with had very similar complaints.
*The excursions were extremely over-priced. DON'T schedule them onship. Either do it way in advance or just want to get off the boat into port!
*Because cruises have such a great reputation for food, we were extremely disappointed with the food served on board. It's good if you like hamburgers and hotdogs (the only things served during the buffet).
*The plus of this ship is that there is 24 room service that is complimentary...get the BLT sandwich, that's about the best thing on the menu!
*The Sign&Sail card is a good idea....but I hate the fact that it is the only thing that you are permitted to use when purchasing ANYTHING on ship! Basically, you are forced to use one form of payment the entire time! Make sure that if you use a credit card, that the credit card has a pretty high limit! Not only do drinks average $6.00 each but they always add 15% gratiuty to everything your order!

Pros: Grand Caymen Excursion

Cons: Cleanliness, Cost

Food and Dining
I did not like the food served on ship; however, my husband seemed to enjoy himself. Again, being on many cruises before, I was expecting grand buffets with a variety of foods. I was disappointed to find that the buffets varied little, mainly serving hamburgers, hotdogs, and pizza. There was one grand buffet and one mexican buffet. That was about it. The dining room food was not that appealing either.
Cabin / Stateroom
The staterooms were fine. Small, but very practical for the trip. The stateroom staff are absolutely great however! They keep the rooms stocked with towels and conduct turn-down service every evening.
Service and Staff
The wait staff and the stateroom staff are absolutely wonderful. They were extremely friendly and competent. We did experience a problem with the photo gallery staff however. As a suggestion, make sure that if you buy something on ship-especially anything that has to do with your camara-that it is the exact thing that you need. They will not return or exchange anything--no matter what!
Entertainment
The entertainment provided was fairly good. They had a great comic one night! The band in the Avent Guard lounge was also very good. However, if you have children, you may want to reconsider booking this cruise. There's really nothing for children under the age of 12 to do, other than go into one main pool.
Children's Programs
Ship Quality
I've been on cruises before and this ship was the dirtiest by far! If the restrooms were in order they were downright disgusting! The pool area was also in poor condition, with cigarette butts and empty glasses under most of the broken deck chairs.
The layout of the ship was easy to understand; however, there were no distinct areas for children to play. Therefore, children were often seen running the corridors that housed the four main bars and casinos. Not very appropriate!
George Town, Grand Cayman
Didn't get to see much in the Caymans. You are only there for about 4 hours! However, we did go on a Reef and Wreck snorkel tour and that was very good!
Don't Miss: Reef and Wreck Snorkel

Cozumel, Mexico
Cozumel was a good port of call. They let you off at a very large shopping complex, where you can either buy very cheap souveniers or book shore excursions if you haven't already done so. We did the Fiesta party boat and were mildly disappointed with it. We expected for the boat to just sail and tour the island for four hours. Instead, the boat sailed directly to a beach adventure park (free admission) that offered a variety of beach activities. Fun for children, but the party boat advertised exactly what it sounds like...a PARTY! Free drinks, cool music, etc....we only received about an hour of that.
