Good cruise for the money

Sail Date: April 20, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

We had a great time on this ship. It was older, smaller than others we've been on - but we got what we paid for.

Pros: Dining was enjoyable, very good shows, plenty for the kids to do. Ship very clean

Cons: Heavy smoke in smaller bars and no smoking areas on deck not clearly marked. Ship layout was odd - resulting in lots of ups and downs, dead ends rather than a flow of traffic. For family of 4, sleeping layout more constrained than on other ships.

Recommends Carnival Inspiration? Yes!

Ship Quality
Layout was chopped up but easy to find what we were looking for (rooms, kids etc). Ship was clean. Pool water was salty...but water slides were great.
Food and Dining
Overall the food was good to excellent in the main dining room. Brasserie buffet food was dissappointing but burgers, fries, pizza were better than I expected.
Cabin / Stateroom
Room was clean, plenty of room to store items. Bathroom was a decent size. Bed very comfortable...slept very well. My only complaint is that when the kids beds were set up (one portable, one fold out from the wall) we couldn't walk around our bed. Other ships don't have this problem.
Service and Staff
Staff was friendly - made a visible efforts to use our first names. Wait staff anticipated needs.
Entertainment
Shows were very good. Would have liked to had a greater variety of non-gambling adult options, especially at sea...but enjoyed relaxing with a book.
Children's Programs
My kids enjoyed the programs. Would have liked a dedicated space for 9-11 year olds.
George Town, Grand Cayman
Did the Coral reef and stingray trip - which was great. The tour guides help everyone enjoy the rays.
Don't Miss: Stingrays
Cozumel, Mexico
We did the Tulum ruins tour. It was outstanding. Our host, Juan, was a gracious ambassador for Mexico and the Mayans. He helped us appreciate the culture and achievement at this historical site. Air conditioned, comfortable bus aided in dealing with the heat and long day.
Don't Miss: Tulum Ruins
