Excellent first time cruise
As a first time cruise, we chose a short 3 day to Ensenada Mexico from Long Beach CA. We are a couple in our late 50's and like Hiking, kayaking, cycling etc. so we weren't sure if a cruise was for us. We now believe cruises are for everyone! While there are far more elaborate and pricey choices you can make, you really can't go wrong with an entry level Carnival cruise. We were aboard the Carnival Imagination (refurbished in 2008 I believe). The ship is beginning to show it's age but it's clean and well staffed. Depending where your stateroom is on the ship, you are assigned a dining room. Ours was on the Atlantic deck and it was the Pride dining room. Excellent food, be sure to select an appetizer (single serving) for each person and save room for desert as all are excellent as well. The buffet on deck 10 in the aft section of the ship had an omelet bar for breakfast and had surprisingly good food and selection any time of day. Because of the price (low) and the cruise line (Carnival) We really didn't have high expectations. What Carnival delivered for the price completely exceeded our expectations. I think they serve better food to entice you back again. It worked, we're looking to book another cruise. Showers aboard the ship are better than any Land based hotel I've stayed in, high flow super sturdy/easy controls. Don't know how they manage to do this on board a ship. Staff is great, your steward will take care of your room requirements like a magic ghost, you never even know he's there and your room is always spotless and your bed turned down with a single light turned on when you finally decide to turn in for the night. The full range of ages were aboard our 3 day cruise from young families with small children to 20's - 30's singles and couples as well as middle aged and senior cruisers. Men would do well to take a sports coat as one night some dress up a bit but and have their photo's taken by professional on board photographers (for a price). We strongly recommend a cruise like this. You are totally relaxed the whole time because you don't have to drive or decide where to eat, now work, no house work or dishes to do, just pure relaxation! Book a cruise, it's a ton of fun.

Be sure to have both and appetizer and desert in your assigned dining room. They're excellent!
