Imagined a better experience on The Imagination

This was my first time cruising and I had a lot of expectations based on what others had told me to expect. Although I enjoyed being at sea and the ports and the experience of cruising, Carnival left alot to be desired, and likely will not get repeat business from me. The ship was apparently understaffed, or the staff was poorly trained. Cleanliness and sanitation were major issues. Public restrooms were totally unacceptable. Food was OK, but the buffett eating areas were always left with used dishes and required customers to clear a table before sitting down. Given Carnival's recent challenges with PR, you'd think that service would be off the chart to offset the recent black eyes they've self imposed. A few of the staff were great. But a general statement, most couldn't understand the language, orders for drinks, food had to be repeated. Our last nite at sea should never have been charged for as the pool deck was closed for power wash cleaning??? They hadn't worried about basic cleaning prior? Upon return to Miami, and no longer able to access our rooms, passengers congregated on the pool level awaiting being called to depart. The whole time, maintenance personell were making repairs in a hurried fashion with power tools and jack hammers. When questioned, we were rudely told that they had to get the boat ready for the next batch of customers later that afternoon. Really? Can't wait til you have the last batch of paying customers off the boat? Maybe the lightning quick turnaround is why Carnivall is having maintenance problems. I left the boat with a splitting headache vowing not to return to Carnival's cattle herding rodeo
