Decent Weekend Getaway

Sail Date: February 10, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We chose this trip because we only had three days for a quick weekend vacation and we were concerned if we just stayed in Miami we might get hit by rain and the trip would be ruined. It's one of the benefits of cruising that the captain can avoid weather while sailing. Boarding the ship was painless.

The highlight of the trip was the catamaran snorkel trip. It was about 45 minutes cruising out to a beautiful reef where we saw so many different types of coral and fish. We spent 45 minutes in the water and then had a rum punch party boat on the way back! Awesome time.

On the down side, I wished I would have known that the downtown area was going to shut down by 6pm on a Saturday and the bar staff seemed to really take their time on servicing people waiting to order a drink. On the flip side, the pool side wait staff were working really hard.

Pros: Catamaran Snorkle excursion

Cons: "Island Time" slow service

Recommends Carnival Imagination? Yes!

Food and Dining
The evening dinner was just enough food, not heaping servings. There was plenty to choose on the menu with some items available each day while others where special for the night. The Mongolian grill was excellent for lunch and the breakfast buffet was good.
Ship Quality
Extremely clean. People were cleaning every nook of the ship all the time.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a lower level room and there was just enough room to get around without feeling cluttered.
Service and Staff
Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. We got to spend some time with the staff on our excursion and got to understand the operations of the ship.
Entertainment
Excellent latin music in the evening and the "big show" in the lounge was more professional that I would have expected. Quality singing and dancing.
