The ship, its crew, and the food were all excellent. My biggest complaint centers around how Carnival probably tried to cram the wrong destinations into a 4-day cruise out of Miami. Our first day we visited Key West, but had very little time ashore. The sunsets and parties in KEy West are renowned, but we had to be back on the ship for a 2pm departure. The same thing happened in Cozumel, where we did not arrive until 1pm. The excursion we chose included waiting on the dock, a smaller boat ride (45 minutes each way) to the Yucatan mainland, a bus ride (1 hour each way) to the Mayan site of Tulum, where we had less than two hours to get to the ruins, see them, and eat a quick lunch. We were gone from the ship for over seven hours, and spent 40 minutes at the ruins themselves. A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. Tulum deserves ay least half a day at the ruins.

Food and Dining

Lots of variety in terms of entertainment, but I found the main show crew to be sub-par. The singers were not very good, and the dance numbers were not very polished. Three guys on the sound board, but the balance was not good at all between the live bind, the live singers, and the obviously recorded backup vocals. Nowhere near as good as all our previous cruise experiences.

Service and Staff

Beyond reproach. Excellent service from this crew. Being one of Carnival's smaller ships, it did not come with hair dryers in the cabins... but our steward brought us one when we asked!

Ship Quality

The Imagination is not a new ship, but it was in excellent condition and very clean. I never liked the "over-the- top" decoaritng in cruise chips (looks like a cheap vegas casino), but this is no worse than any other.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an ocean view cabin, and everything was great.

We were in port so briefly, we only had time to take an hour-long tour of the island (very informative and fun), walk to a recommended restaurant and find a 40-minute wait, and then walk back to the trolleys to return to the ship (after finding a great piece of Key Lime Pie in a storefront shop). I want to return to KEy West and spend a few days to really check it out.

Wasted an entire day riding to a 40-minute Maya ruin tour. Can't really say anything about Cozumel itself.

Pros: Great food and service

Cons: Unusual and too-short hours in destination ports

Recommends Carnival Imagination? Yes!
