Ship: Carnival Imagination
Cabin Type: Oceanview
Traveled As: Family (older children)
Reviewed: 7 years ago

Ship seemed old and outdated. Decor was tacky, cabin was plain, dirty, and troublesome. Not enough staff to keep up with Lido buffet or common spaces. Easy to see why it attracts the college, party kids....they control the common spaces as well as the noise at night ("Shots!" all day/night long, everywhere). Recommendation is to stay away from this ship and if you insist on booking this ship for the ports like I did, don't do it in March.

Food and Dining

Average food, at best. Nothing special except chocolate melting cake. Dining rooms were comfortable, preferred dining room for breakfast and lunch given what was on buffet. For when dining rooms were closed, the deli and pizza stands were great. Dinner was late each 90 minutes before we saw entrees....each night. Saw fights in dining room on two separate nights, staff quickly handled and removed them...yay for that.

Some shows were pretty bad, some were good. Hence, the average rating. Lots of options to spend/win money with bingo and casino tournaments. Loved Leo the the dining rooms at night. Leo was great.

Service and Staff

Always happy to help, just not enough of them to keep place clean and deliver timely service.

Ship Quality

Layout was bizarre for dining rooms. Size was ok, public spaces ok, accessibility could be issue to some...especially with dining rooms. Not enough open deck space. Ship just seemed old, dirty, and in need of a renovatioin.

Cabin / Stateroom

Had handicap-accessible room, but huge bathroom as result. Bathroom had no place to put anything (no shelves, no surfaces, nothing but grab bars and towel bars). No fridge and an automatic door that was more trouble than anything. Lights kept going out (that's a lot of fun if in shower) and toilet broke, had to be fixed, then replaced. Not happy at all with room. Felt cheated.

Beautiful area, have to get off ship and at least see the city. Shopping ok, nothing special, wished I had scheduled an excursion there.
Don't Miss: The city, the beaches.

Mayan Ruins shore excursion was well executed, worth the time. Again, gorgeous area, skip the bars and go explore.
Don't Miss: The beaches and resorts, the Mayan Ruins at Tulum.

Pros: Leo the Magician, Pleasant Staff, Shore Excursions

Cons: Drunken, fighting patrons, electrical problems, dirty ship

Recommends Carnival Imagination? No.
