OK for the price

Sail Date: September 22, 2008

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Oceanview

I sailed on the Carnival Imagination and although I heard it had been recently refurbished it still looks like it was decorated in 1988 Las Vegas. The main atrium and dining room are very dark / black and neon although the staterooms were pleasantly decorated. The layout of the ship catered to those who wanted to stay inside and shop or gamble but was lacking good deck space to sit outside and enjoy the sun and views. The live music around the pools was too loud to make it a relaxing area.

Pros: Free upgrade to oceanview room

Cons: Ship layout and food

Recommends Carnival Imagination? No.

Service and Staff
Ship Quality
Public area cleanliness was OK but could be better. Decor was dated.
Food and Dining
Main dining room food quality was OK but you're restricted to set dining times.
Buffet food quality was bordering on poor and the lines were often long.
Cabin / Stateroom
Staterooms were bright and clean and stateroom staff as pleasant and efficient.
Key West, Florida
Cozumel, Mexico
Playa Mia beach break was nice. Cozumel has 3 piers and only 1 is within walking distance to downtown restaurants and shopping. If you doc at one of the other 2 piers you have to take a taxi into town.
