A little something for everyone!

Room Type: Suite

We had a variety of ages for this cruise -- two teenagers, two 9 yrs olds and us, the parents. This cruise offered us the best option for vacationing -- the teens loved Club 02 (the teen club) and spent lots of time in there chilling out. The 9 yrs old loved being able to sign in and out of the Club Carnival (kid club). It was our choice to allow them to do that. Many times they wanted to do the activity and other times they just wanted to swim, and spent lots of tie going down the twistr water slide.

We booked private tours for our excurions outside of Carnival and had excellent luck. We did Stingray City & snorkleing in the Grand Caymans with Capt bryans. The name of the ship is the Bucanner (sp?) and I was delighted in this tour. While some ships that go out to the bar look like tender boat and anre loaded to the max -- Capt Bryans is a fast, sailing ship with lots of room to stretch out and soak up rays. Tip: When you first get to the Capt. Bryan location it looks like a small shack -- infact - you don't even go into the building and so I was a little nervous but the experience was top notch. I give it 10 out of 10 stars! Plus I pre-booked over the internet, got confirmations back quickly and even a follow-up notice several days before the cruise left.

In Jamica -- we booked a private tour with Phil Lafayette. I had read about him on various threads. We booked a trip to climb the Dunn's River Falls and then go river tubing on the White River. When we got off the boat in Ocho Rios, our driver for the day was there to greet us. It was not Phil Lafayette but rather someone who works for him by the name of PJ. He was very nice and was with us the whole way. The whole family loved Dunn's Falls as it is a once in a lifetime thing to see. But the real surprise was the fun we had doing the river tubing. I think the name of the place they take you to is Calypso Rafting. The inner tubes have bottoms in them so it's very safe and the river is not very deep but it is swift -- there were several place it truly was a small white water rapid...very fun! You even get to stop and for the brave-hearted jump off a large cliff into the clear water below!

Pros: Options! Sunbathing, shows, casino, kids program, teen club

Cons: Standing in lines for buffets

Recommends Carnival Imagination? Yes!

Food and Dining
The food was good and plentiful. We enjoyed the service in the dining rooms. Sometimes the food was delicious and sometimes it was just OK...we often asked our server for recommendations and found that if we stuck with her recommendations we were more pleased with the dish. With that said - we are not food snobs - we didn't go onto the Imagination for gourmet cuisine. The 24 hr pizzaeria was always a hit although we rarely hit it when there wasn't a line!
Ship Quality
We booked a category 12 room because we wanted a balcony and since the Imagination is an older ship -- to get a balcony you have to have a suite. We loved it. Four of us stayed in this room and never felt cramped. The couch which turns into a bed is surprisingly comfortable. It is not a sofa bed but rather a convertible'll have to see it to figure out what they do. Suffice it to say it is not a hardship to sleep on it for 5 nights!
Cabin / Stateroom
Loved it. Even had a jacuzzi tub and a walk-in closet (albeit it was a very small closet!) One perk of having a balcony is that you can set your wet towels and swimsuits out there to dry! Nice!
Service and Staff
Crew was always very friendly. We were very impressed with this!
The shows are good. We went to almost every evening show (I think we missed two of them -- choosing to hit the craps table in the casino!) The dancers in these shows really work hard -- so much choerogrpahy, outfit changes, etc -- they are hard workers. Be sure to clap loud for them -- they are working their hearts out....and then afterwards probably have to go hock bingo cards! :-)
Children's Programs
Camp Carnival worked out very well for us. Kids spent half of the time in planned activities. The older kids liked the Club 02 as well.
