It was a family cruise on a new ship out of a new port for all of us. We had a great time with our family but we seem to like the smaller, easier to navigate ships instead. Love Carnival and will always come back regardless of this experience. They were very accommodating a few years back during an emergency and it just showed they really cared about their guests.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
It was a bit like herding cattle trying to even get in the front door, after that it was a lot easier.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
MDR maybe 4 out of 5. The chicken sometimes tasted processed. Bonsai Teppanyaki was good as was the servers and cooks. Didn't like MTD having to check in every night at the Blue Java Cafe. Next time will pick specific time for dining. Buffets for breakfast was as expected but for lunch wasn't a wide variety.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Plenty of activities for everyone. Did like the pool and the Dr. Seuss Waterworks. The pool could be bigger. Sky ride broke down a few days into cruise.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Didn't feel there were enough shows on this particular ship. On past cruises with Carnival there were all types of game shows, Broadway shows, etc... Lacked in this ship.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff is always friendly. That's one reason we love cruising with Carnival. Our room steward, Philip was amazing. He went above and beyond what he needed to make or cruise that more special. CD Mike was eh soso, not memorable. one.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
There was always people cleaning. I felt it was up to par for cleaniness. The design of the ship far as decor, loved it! Navigation around ship lacked. It felt too choppy and cut off in areas as where other ships in the past you could learn where to go by your second day. No pass through to different areas of ship. Blocked off a bit too much. The elevators took a bit to get used to. First day is chaos but that's expected.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Expected for interior.
Ship tip
Don't expect to easily walk through entire floors. They are cut off at almost every floor.
The elevator system was easier on other ships.
