Review summary

We decided to freestyle and not book any shore excursions. But we did get to do some sightseeing in Puerto Rico by taking the free tram that winds its way around San Juan. We hopped a bus in St Thomas to the top of the mountain. Stayed close to port in Nassau because of bad knees and did some shopping at the straw market and watched the water activities from shore. In Grand Turk, did a little shopping and took in the fabulous beach.

Embarkation

Pleasantly surprised how easy and quick it was to get processed and boarded.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
So many choices.. Even "picky" eaters should have no trouble. The MDR and staff were lively and entertaining. Portions were just right.

Platinum Restaurant

5 out of 5

Oh, Man! We love fine dining, and we were not disappointed with the selections and the portions. I can't say that the staff dance party was in keeping with the fine dining atmosphere, but it was fun and lively. We really enjoyed the overall experience.

The Grand Buffet

If you go away hungry, it's your own fault. That's how my Granny would put it whenever anyone came to visit. She always had food prepared. The selection was wonderful, and you just couldn't complain about the view out the windows.

Pizzeria

4 out of 5

We decided to take an evening nap and experience the ship after midnight. I love thin crust pizza and had my fill by 2 AM.. Excellent job turning out the pies.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We like to relax, but we were never bored. If you make the ship as part of your destination, I don't see how anyone can be disappointed.

Azure Lido Pool

4 out of 5

It was good. Sometimes a bit busy, and quite deep, but no complaints

Serenity

5 out of 5

Very peaceful and relaxing. Although, There were some clam shell hogs and that's just not right. If you're not going to be there, don't be saving a place for you to return an hour later. Chances are, that if a chair or lounge is open, allowing for someone else to enjoy some quiet time, they just may be done with it by the time you get around to stopping by and picking up your things.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Hasbro game was fun. We didn't take in much entertainment. Just wanted to enjoy the experience of cruising, relaxing and exploring the ship.

Carnival SeasideTheater

3 out of 5

Didn't watch much and always seemed to a bit too crowded for our taste, but maybe next time there will be movies we can enjoy.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was the best. He made sure we were well taken care of. The food service staff were always on the ball and keeping busy.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Since it was our first cruise, we had nothing to compare it with, but we didn't have any trouble getting around.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Not a bad choice for a 1st cruise. The Aft Balcony was great.

Ship tip

Make the ship your destination, that way if you have to miss a port for whatever reason, you can shrug your shoulders and find something to do on board.
