Nice relaxing cruise - top rate staff

Sail Date: August 06, 2016

Reviewed: 3 months ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Inside

Although the Carnival Glory is an older and  smaller ship, the ports we sailed to (Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turks) were good ports and the ship had a nice adult-only area called Serenity that was very quiet.  The food was great and the dining, room, and bar staff were exceptional which made the cruise one of the best we have had.

I missed having a shaded walking area that went around the whole ship (usually deck 4 or 5) - you could go up and back, but not all the way around.  The jogging track on the sports deck was small and all sun.

Cabin / Stateroom
The cabin was a little small but our room steward did a great job keeping it clean and organized.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Embarkation was great - easy, not crowded. Disembarkation was a nightmare. It took hours to get off the ship and worse, hours waiting in customs lines that were badly formed with people cutting in instead of going to the back of the line and customs staff allowing it. Almost missed our prescheduled transportation (shout out to MJS Transportation for being so patient).

Miami, Florida
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
Pretty crowded - hard to get a chair unless you get out early.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Grand Turk Island
Walk past the initial beach when the boat lands - it get much less crowded quickly and you can still get lounge chairs for free (umbrellas cost).

Tip

If you think you will drink more than 5 drinks a day, get the drink package (pre-order for a better price). The Carnvial Cheers package is the best and least restrictive that we have seen compared to other cruise lines where most top shelf liquor is not included.
