I highly reccommend this cruise! by TriciaC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This is my third carnival cruise. Every ship I go on seems to get bigger and bigger with more activities and places and things to do on the ship. My fiance and I departed from Miami on Dec 1, 2007 and entered the brand new Carnival Freedom. The decor of the ship was beautiful. The food was fantastic, except for the pasta being a little over cooked but what can you expect? I reccommend you go to your assigned dinner because you literally become family with your server and busboy since you have them all week long. The breakfast and lunch buffets were great, with doing a "taste of a nation" every single day whether it be Italy, France, Asia, etc. The Carnival Freedom had three pools on the lido deck. All salt water except for the 5 jacuzzi's. I can't even count how many bars there were because there was sooo many! From the Swing time lounge, to the Cabana lounge (selling great Cigars), and of course the 70's Disco. Of course, much more. They even had a sushi bar that opened up from 5:30pm-8:30pm serving different varities of sushi every day. YUM. The casino was nice too if you like to gamble, as I do not. One of the cruisers on my ship won $120,000 on his last night on a slot machine, lucky! The drinks, oooh the drinks! Let's just put it this way. You get what you pay for which is a lot. They don't stimp you on alcohol. They are very generous pourers! This cruise is great for families, singles, and couples of all ages!

The ship is neat and clean. The Crew is very nice, helpful and cooperative. The day care center is nice and my son loves to go there. Water ride is excellent.

This ship is amazing. New this year, it has set the bar for the amenities that people expect while cruising.

Small public areas and lots of road blocks when trying to get to a specific area such as on the Lido deck.

it was my first time on a Carnival Cruise. I've been on many other cruises but being over 60 years I was a little reluctant to book on th "Fun Ships." I was more than impressed with the whole cruise. No problem with a lot of noisy activity aboard. The staff was very competent and very helpful throughout the trip. Getting off the ship to return home was a breeze, too.

First Time Carnival Cruiser by Fishwife2016

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom

Overall we give this cruise a solid 7. The rough seas were handled as best as they could be by the Captain. Our cabin was a pleasant surprise. Food was underwhelming. Guy's Burgers were good one day but meh the next. Tacos were good. Was not overly impressed with the Sea Day brunch. We are not picky eaters, just like good tasting food. Entertainment was enjoyable. Enjoyed the 3 ladies playing violins. We have cruised before, however, this was our 1st with Carnival. We will cruise with them again, just not maybe in the near future.

A great time....until debarkation by mdeff

Except for debarkation, had a wonderful time. The service was up to the usual standards, and for post COVID-19 that is a big improvement. James Love was a great cruise director.

Worse Cruise by 38141Babu

The Carnival cruise line is very bad and unorganized cruise company. Please stay away from this ship. Better go on Norwegian or Disney cruise

Freedom cruise by jbeas11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom

This was the 4th carnival cruise since the restart and sadly the most disappointing experience of all 4.  I booked this as a last minute 5 day get away knowing the ship was dated and the cruise ports might change because of the growing storm that hit grand turks. Cons/Pros Multiple maintenance issues in cabin: burned out overhead light, door lock inoperable, sewage smell outside door, missing weather stripping around door  that shone a bright light around the entire doorway at night, missing night light bulb, loose electrical sockets that wouldn't hold plugs, empty mini bar etc. And BROWN HOT WATER which cabin steward said was normal "dont worry - just run it for a while".  I had the first two corrected as it was safety issue.  I used only cold water in the sink. Service; Alchemy bar was disappointing.  All the drink were mixed with extra juices, sodas, or tonic water.  Not my experience on other carnival ships Alchemy bar.  After first 2 days we stopped ordering drinks here.  Red Frog Pub had a rude bartender as well and this space was always empty and boring. Other staff was adequate but nobody delivered over the top service including the dining rooms.   Dining: Had My Time dining and the app worked great. Wish all ships had this app. No wait.  Food service was efficient but almost to much so.  If you ordered multiple apps everything was brought to the table at once and crammed onto the surface . One time we were still eating our app when the entrée was sat on the edge of the table. Same with dessert.  Didn't experience this on other dining rooms on previous carnival. The food was tasty but not adventurous.   Princess Cays This is a tender port and the set up to tender is ridiculous.  Guest have to get up at 630 am and go to a specific location to retrieve timed tender tickets for princess cays, then - wait for there tender time to be called in the morning.  This is absurd and was like a leg from The Amazing Race.  With port time limited from 8 am to 3 pm If you had anything after 11 - open tender you hardly had 2 good hours on the princess cays.  It wasn't worth all the work involved. CHEERS PACKAGE With each sailing more brands are disappearing from the bars and I'm talking just mid level brands: crown royal, some bourbons and rums.  Also now (according to bartenders) if you order a specific cocktail with a specific brand your alcohol content will be cut in HALF and substituted with juice or soda etc.  Example if you order a Dirty Mojito you can only have it with 2 shots of barcardi or cheaper rum but if you order it with Kraken or other higher brand you will get one shot of rum and more juice.  It was like this for other drinks I suppose. However I was still satisfied with the package as we used it for all our hydration needs and purchased over 150 drinks over 5 days. Entertainment Fair - 1 comedian for 5 days was not enough variety. Only 2 production shows that were best musical melodies okay to pass the time but if seen once or twice elsewhere that is enough. Ship trios were entertaining.   Casino: I hit the jackpot and a won a couple thousand so Ill put that in the PRO column.   Takeaway: This would be a cruise for someone who is fine with hours to fill laying by the pool and drinking cocktails, gambling, eating and having fun.  I had no advance expectations of luxury, over the top service, food or experience which carnival delivered on.  Its the equivalent of doing a staycation at a low tier resort by the airport.  Some sketchy neighbors but the price was good and you got to where you wanted to go.

First Carnival Cruise (AMAZING) by skenefick

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom

First cruise on a Carnival ship as a travel advisor. Could not be more impressed. Staff was amazing and the ship was the perfect size where it was big enough that you were never bored but small enough that you saw the same people over and over.
