Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

after talking with others about Carnival cruise line... everyone said it was not the best! i disagree, the ship was very clean , looked like it was well taken care.... the food was good .... especialy the specialty restaurant , the rear pool with the retractable roof 18+ only was the best place to enjoy the pool and the sun , and the drinks. would definetly go back on Carnival Freedom again and again and again ! 2 thumbs up!

What a horrible excuse for a cruise by Peterb11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my 8th cruise, and, by far, this was the worst one I have been on. The cabin smelled horrible (smelled like cigar smoke and exhaust), and after voicing my concern 4 times, they finally sent an engineer who fixed it in about 30 minutes. Why was this not done from the beginning? The "evening shows" were amateurish as best. They were posted to begin at a set time, but the the ship's "fun crew" was so busy trying to sell "just one more ticket for bingo" that they were consistently 20 minutes late every night except the last night when they were over 45 minutes late starting. There was no information to be found on-board about the ports of call EXCEPT for the shopping opportunities for the stores that had a commission back to Carnival (it was even stated in the fine print). There were SO MANY photographers set up in the Promenade deck that it was almost impossible to walk through. I was actually afraid for my safety because the equipment blocked free movement in case of an emergency.

This was my second cruise and my girlfriend's first. We went with 10 people in our family and had a wonderful time. Our watier, Denton, in the Posh dining room is the best ever. We look forward to taking a cruise when we get married.

Super cruise by JohnV3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Carnival Freedom ship was extremely clean and not crowded. This was despite a sold-out ship!!! The amount of things to do on the ship was excellent and the staff was extremely efficient. Since this was our first cruise, we were a bit apprehensive about the entire experience -- but Carnival does it right! Their customer service is excellent -- the rooms were cleaned twice a day and the food was impressive (especially the evening dinners -- do not miss one of them)!!!

A Great Cruise with my Family by JarredW

My fiance and I had a great time. We are both deaf and Carnival provided us with an interpreter and the necessary hearing impaired equipment for our room. It was awesome. We also met some other deaf people on the cruise.

Perfect Vacation by MikeE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Perfect vacation. Went with my family and my brothers family. We had cruised in the past with another line (NCL) and Carnival was outstanding. The entire ship was very clean and well organized. Service was great. Every time we returned to the rooms, the beds were made, new towels were there and the bathrooms were cleaned. Food was very good and as is usually the case, I gained a few pounds. Everyone seemed to find fun activities and always had things to do. Only thing I did not care for was the push for the extras (spa treatments, liquor, photos, etc.). Some might appreciate those things but I just found them in the way.

A relaxing, well paced cruise by RichieZ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was relaxing with a wide range of activities. The cruise director was a fast talker who delegated a lot to assistants. THE HOUSEKEEPING AND SERVICE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT. The line does need to create fair beverage prices, and offer more specials. The security and adminstration was excellent.

Carnival Cruisers Forever!!! by DanA7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Upon embarkation, which was extremely smooth, we were brought into the main lobby of the ship. It was truly dazzling and elegant. There's a piano bar there and you can sit and lounge, listen to music and watch the elevators rise and descend. From there we trekked off to find our room. I would say that though it had no affect on our cruise, the layout was a bit confusing. We were still doing pirouets around the halls trying to determine which way dinner was, vs. the show, vs. our stateroom, vs other places. But there are signs and people with shirts that say "Just Ask" which we found amusing. The comedy shows, stage/floor shows and musicians around the ship were very good and it was lots of fun to see how much was going on. Loved the shops, thought we could've gotten some better deals after we disembarked, but overall, was satisfied with our purchases. The excursions were first class and we had absolutely NO trouble understanding the guides or with any bad attitude of any kind ( maybe one minor incident with a subordinate of our guide during our Kayak through the Panama Canal), but again, minor and it didn't ruin our trip one bit. The ship was VERY comfortable, welcoming and beautiful. Our room was very clean and though small, had enough closet and drawer space that we made it work. (Had a 4G interior cabin). We LOVED this cruise. We'll be back on Carnival before you know it! I will say one thing that overall bothered us was the smoking. Since there are two sides to each pool or at least two sides to the ship, they need to make one side non smoking. I was physically ill from breathing all the smoke and was coughing severely by the last day. My clothes and luggage STINK! :)

A great multi-generational vacation by KelleyL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very good. The slide was a big hit with my 6 year old as was the miniature golf course. The casino was great for my in-laws. All shows I saw were very well done with great performers. The food was above average. The itinerary was strong. Overall, a great cruise and a fantastic multi-generational family vacation. However, I still prefer Disney Cruise Lines to all others.
