Review summary

After having just completed our second cruise yesterday, Aug. 17, 2019 and looking back on our first one from April 2018 on the Freedom I’d say we where probably happier with our experience on this ship then on the Vista. Don’t get me wrong the Vista is a wonderful ship but with the larger amount of passengers it does get a bit crowded compared to the Freedom!!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
So this was my families first cruise, I had been on one when I was a teenager. But for my wife, daughter and my mom it was their first ones ever. We made the plunge and purchased the Faster to the Fun. Highly, highly recommend doing so, unless you’re a Carnival diamond or platinum member. Our embarkation process was smooth and from what I remember pretty easy. I remember our Crush Director Malcolm “Wooohoooo” Burns being in the Lobby and welcoming everyone on board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had the early assigned dining and we loved our waitress and her staff. They made my daughter feel welcome and always got her out dancing during their showtime!!! The food was awesome and they always made sure we didn’t have any complaints!! Our first dinner on board we had reservations at the steakhouse and it was sooooo worth it!!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Always found something to pass the time on board. From swimming, to gambling, to taking my daughter to the arcade!!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were good, seats on the upper level not so good. Lots of obstructed views on that second level. Went to one of the late comedy shows and wished it had been longer, the guy was really funny!!!

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My daughter didn’t care of the kids club on this cruise. She felt like if she wasn’t with us she was going to miss something she’d find fun

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Never had a single issue with the staff, they kept that ship in excellent condition. Our room steward was awesome and always greeted us when he saw us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I liked the way the ship was laid out, actually like it better then the Vista class of ships. Crew kept this ship in excellent condition, it was clean. You could tell they worked hard at keeping it up

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Awesome cabin, right on the spa deck and since it’s so close you can just walk over to the spa and take a shower in the much larger showers in the gym. That totally was worth it!!!

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Shipwreck museum is absolutely one of the best museums I’ve ever been in!!! The Truman Whitehouse was another great spot but didn’t take the tour. I will next time I go there.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

2 out of 5
Stayed on board but did go to the little stalls at the taxi stand area to grab some souvenirs. Otherwise you do need to have an excursion planned out because nothing was nearby. It literally is a working shipping port and you can see other cruise ships being repaired or overhauled.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Went on a beach day that was fun, took 40 minutes to get there by boat, food wasn’t all that great, drinks were another cost. I really wanted to check out the pirate museum but ran out of time to do so.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Once again Faster to the Fun helps with disembarkation. We had no issues, able to eat breakfast on the Lido deck then went to the lounge and waited till the called our group. Very smooth operation.

Well done. FTTF and the steakhouse are a couple of opportunities that some cruisers discover later. I’m glad you had a great time. We enjoyed the Freedom as well...
