Review summary

Overall, we loved the Freedom. This was our second time on her. We especially enjoyed the Serenity Deck, the Lobby Bar, the Promenade, and the Endless Pool area. Emma, the cruise Director, was AWESOME! I don't know where she gets all that energy. She is my favorite CD so far.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room was nice. I had heard that Carnival had stopped using tablecloths, but that was not true on this cruise. The waiters were excellent and called us by name. The food was excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved all the entertainment. The shows were great, the DJ was good, the violin trio "Elegance" was EXCELLENT. We loved them the best.

Children's Programs

we do not have children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters and buffet servers were all wonderful. Our room stewards were awesome and very attentive. All crew members at least smiled at us when we saw them. We befriended several "cleaning crew," bartenders, and bar servers. Guest Services people were friendly and very helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Common areas were always clean and well maintained. The only thing about the ship's layout was that you couldn't get to the Lobby on deck 3 from the central elevator/stairs, without going through the dinning room. There should be a door to the outside deck so you could walk around and back in.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin is just the right size, plenty of closet and drawer space. Our stewards were excellent making the bed and leaving us wonderful towel animals. The replaced the towels even though we had hung them up for re-use.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
No excursion in Galveston. We arrived the day before and spent the night at a local hotel.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

3 out of 5
There was nothing to do at the "terminal" if you were not going on an excursion; just a few tourist-trap shops. You have to take a bus into town for $7 a person, but we didn't do that. We bought a couple souvenirs and got back on the ship.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Again, we didn't do any excursions, but enjoyed walking around the area and bought some souvenirs, took some pictures. There was a small beach where I found a couple rocks and seashells.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We've been to Cozumel before and loved it. We did not do any excursions, but we spent about 3 hours looking around, taking pictures, buying souvenirs, and enjoyed beach chairs and a drink at Fat Tuesday's.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It took about an hour to get through customs and out of the terminal, but that is normal. No problems.
