Review summary

We had a wonderful week on the Carnival Freedom! The excursions in port allowed us just enough adventure and cultural experiences, while the days at sea allowed us time to relax and vacation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All of the food was excellent with the exception of any cut of beef we had, which was generic and rubbery. Otherwise the food was awesome. Drinks were reasonably priced by themselves, but the drink package is a complete rip off.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pools were the most disappointing part of the cruise for me. I would've liked to lay by the pool, but the two on board were tiny and cold. The hot tubs were nice, but the ones in the Serenity adult area were broken and never got very hot. The spa was great, although overpriced. I had an excellent pedicure and a relaxing massage but wish I could've paid 3/4 of the price for these. The basketball court was small, which was disappointing for my boyfriend as he wanted to play but is of course too old to play with the children that took up the one basket.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I saw two comedians, which were both funny but incredibly raunchy even for my dirty humor. The cruise director and staff were funny and kept the adult game night very entertaining. The shows were cheesy but enjoyable. Hannah, the piano player, was awesome!!

Children's Programs

I do not have children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our room steward was absolutely incredible and made our days brighter every time we saw him.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Loved the decor, cleanliness, and design! The Serenity adult area would've been better suited at the back of the ship because it was so windy at the front, and I wish there were more/larger pools. Other than that, the layout of the ship was easy to figure out and walkable.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was awesome! Nicer than a lot of hotel rooms and the bathroom was surprisingly large for a ship. We absolutely loved our room. However, by the last night, the two twin beds that had been pushed together to make our king size bed had started separating and we never successfully got them to stay together. Also, I definitely wish we had clean sheets changed every day.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
No excursions, but parking and shuttles were very easy. It looked like there were cool restaurants nearby that we would've visited if we had more time.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We took an excursion to Tulum on the mainland. The excursion was awesome, educational, and we got to see a lot more of Mexico than if we had stayed in Cozumel. I do wish that we had a few more hours there and weren't so rushed to get back to the ship.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Belize was amazing! We did an excursion to Xunantunich with a two hour bus ride each way that allowed us to see so much of the country. Our excursion was a blast. I wish we had a few more hours in Belize so we could've relaxed more and maybe had time to see Belize City after our excursion.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

3 out of 5
BORING! I felt like I was at a resort in the US, not in Honduras. I was very disappointed that we had no access to local towns, restaurants, beaches, ANYTHING that felt like Honduras. Instead we were trapped in a beach with two cruise ships' worth of Americans and overpriced food & drinks. Definitely did not feel like I got to see Roatan at all, even though we had the most time at this port of any port. We did zip line for an hour which was fun!

Disembarkation

Overall it went pretty quick and was easy to follow.
