Overall a wonderful cruise!

Sail Date: December 01, 2012

Room Type: Balcony

Overall we had a great experience. This was our first time cruising and did an 8 night cruise. We enjoyed both our days at sea and in port. The only issue I had was our port of call to Antigua. Our plan was to see the island on our own via cab. However\, upon arrival the port is dirty and run down. When getting off the cruise\, personnel were at the gang plank encouraging us not to leave the area that was run by the cruise lines on shore (we were told outside that area it is \"trashy\"). This gave us a little panic and ended up booking a rather expensive shore excursion at the last minute. Our excursion was wonderful and we went in a taxi that we would have rented on our own. After the excursion we had him drop us at an old church about 6 blocks from the docks. We then walked back. It was a little rundown\, but not unsafe and we enjoyed getting a real feel for the island.

Pros: Dining\, Activities\, Ports of Call

Cons: Age breakout for kids club.

Recommends Carnival Freedom? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Overall the food was very good. The buffet on the lido deck was a buffet. Food was good\, not excellent. Pizza and Sushi stations however were awesome. We ate in the Posh dinning room for dinner and occasionally for breakfast and lunch. I recommend if you can to eat there for all meals. It is sit down with waitstaff. Food was better here than at the buffet. That being said my children enjoyed the buffet and the ability to go and get something to eat whenever they wanted.
Cabin / Stateroom
Overall clean if small. Our steward was constantly changing out dirty towels and keeping it neat and tidy.
Service and Staff
Did not interact with the overall staff much other than dining room. Did go to spa once and had a pedicure. This is expensive but was a quality pedi.
Enjoyed the numerous and unique activities they had on the ship while at sea.
