on the plus side - our room was great, plenty of storage space and comfortable beds. food abounded and some of it was very good, a wide variety. the crew were always smiling and willing to help. debarkation at the end of the cruise was very quick. the captain took a different route back to ft.lauderdale to avoid rain and i thought that was phenominal of him. some of the negatives were - we didn't know it was spring break and there were a LOT of 20-somethings on board and we had to fight for deck chairs. on the last day at sea i actually got up @6:30am to find a good sunning spot and got the last one. the college kids were sleeping in them to reserve them for themselves. the photographers were very pushy and made the initial embarkation and debarkation at ports of call much longer than they had to be and even without that it was a long line of people. they took photos of every person and it was next to impossible to say "no, thank you". it was like it was mandatory. evening dining was okay, but after the first few nights we chose to fend for ourselves. we were assigned to a table with another couple whose company we didn't really enjoy. also, i prefer to eat light which apparently didn't sit well with our waiter who kept bringing over food that i hadn't ordered in additon to the food that i had ordered. this may seem like a plus but it got embarrassing. the shore excursions were, overall, a good experience. about the only bad experience was in jamaica. we climbed dunns river falls (wonderful!) and then went to the bamboo beach club. the beach club was very crowded and very loud and the spring breakers got very drunk as did our guide for the day. consequently, we left the beach club later than we were supposed to and didn't have time to do the shopping that i had been looking forward to. i have spoken to others who have taken a carnival cruise who didn't experience many of the negatives that i did, so i will book with them again, but i will choose my time to sail a little more wisely.

Pros: our steward was wonderful

Cons: didn't know it was springbreak. lots of drunk, loud colllege kids

Recommends Carnival Freedom? Yes!
