Review summary
First of all, I am a Carnival gold member who has nevered considered jumping ship, but this last cruise has me thinking otherwise. I have always looked forward to the fabulous food and the excellent customer service that makes a vacation so wonderful. In all the years that I have traveled on Carnival these two categories have always been consistent. This year, It was not so. The food was marginal at best. Gone were the exotic dishes. The buffet was poorly executed and low quality. Late night it was pizza, hot dogs, chili, grilled ham and cheese, and small chicken sandwich-EVERY NIGHT! I was looking forward to salmon and bagels with a pot of coffee for breakfast each morning which had always been my routine. I love not having to get dressed to go down to the dining room so early. Now, it's strictly cereal or danish and if you want room service after 10pm, you must pay a separate fee. Service in the dining room was slow until I spoke to manager after I waited 30 minutes for a drink. When he realized I was gold member, he changed out our server and we received great service for the remainder of the cruise, but why did it have to get that far? Cheers program - We decided to splurge and get the unlimited drinks program which costs as much as the cruise, but I felt it would be a lot of fun trying out new drinks. Well Carnival has tapered down on thier list of choices so basically you are getting basics brands, I don't think I would purchase it again. One other item was that there are A lot of added charges which should be disclosed prior to sail. Not fair to returning customers.Embarkation
