Last minute decision, well worth the cost

this was our first Carnival cruise, though we've done many others on Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. This was a booking of convenience and taking opportunity of a great price. The ship, while smaller than those to which we are accustomed, was clean, in great shape and enjoyable. The entertainment of all types was superb. Due to the ages of our children (8 & 9) we skipped the DR in favor of the Lido buffets. There was a very well varied selection of entrees and desserts, though the salad and fruit choices were somewhat limited. Biggest problem was the lack of engagement from the staff, compared with our previous cruises. Our Stewart, Agus was great, but he was the ONLY staff member whom our children got to speak with on any regular basis. And if I am going to be charged mandatory gratuities for asst. waiters, waiters, head waiters, etc., I would expect a little mor engagement from the crew.
