The Fascination is an older ship\, but she's still a grand lady. Just coming out of dry dock with a few upgrades (hence the reason she was late in arriving in Jacksonville and late in departing) we were pleased with the fresh coat of paint\, new carpet\, new beds\, and all the little touches that were renewed just before our cruise.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The one big dislike for our group was the Carnival Homestyle menu. If we wanted fried chicken\, meatloaf\, and pot roast\, we would have stayed home. We were expecting more seafood\, more upscale offerings. Still what we ate was good quality\, was delicious\, and well prepared.

5 out of 5
We saw the one big Motown review show\, and one of the comedy acts while on board. Both were very well produced and were entertaining. The variety of activities planned out daily were fantastic. We took part in some of the on board contests\, won a few prizes\, and had a wonderful time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Considering our rocky start of the trip (leaving port 12 hours after our original debarkation time) the staff went above and beyond to be sure we were well taken care of on this trip. They spoiled us rotten. So friendly\, helpful\, and always with a willing smile or a quick joke. Can't say enough good things about the staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was clean\, shiny\, and looked new. Our room was larger than we thought it would be. The common areas are designed so you don't really feel like you are crammed on board with 2000 other people.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an interior stateroom. Expecting something like a sardine can\, we were met with a much more spacious room than we anticipated. Room was perfect! Got the best sleep I've had in years.

Pros: Being pampered by the staff.

Cons: Delayed leaving Jacksonville\, FL.
