A great first cruise

We just got back yesterday from our 4 night cruise to the Bahamas. For our group, we were all first time cruisers and it was our first vacation away from our kids so the length of this cruise was about perfect (though we didn't feel that way as we saw the ship dock up in Jacksonville). We had a amazing time with lots of memories. Our server for dinners was wonderful, I can't tell you how great dinner can be when you really have a server who feels his job is to make your experience amazing. Kittyphong was just that for us...we'd love to have him with us on every cruise!

The food was good. Some meals were just okay, but some were amazing. The lobster on formal night was awesome. We loved that we could get multiple meals or apps if we wanted to have a few of them. They never questioned us ordering multiple items and i think the portions are made to accommodate that kind of dining.

The lido deck, especially the pool, were shockingly small. I couldn't imagine what it would have looked like if the ship had been full! Kids often took over the hot tubs despite signs stating they were only for adults. Some of the kids were totally out of control because apparently parents think they don't have to parent on vacation...those parents get an F (one of the couples lived across the hall, we had to reprimand their kids a few times for yelling in the halls splashing people in the hot tub, etc). I was embarrassed for their parents. There were so many people walking around hawking drinks that it started to get annoying when you are trying to talk or read. I wish they didn't interrupt us.

Our room was nice. We loved having a window and the guy that took care of our room did a great job. We loved the towel animals and he even put our wine on ice each day so our whites were chilled. We didn't talk to him much but our room was always tidy and clean. He was great.

The entertainment was top notch. The 80s review was spectacular! The dancing and singing was great and it was fun going back to hear the music of our childhood. Our favorites though were one of the comedians and Superstar Karaoke (you sing with a live band). We did at least one of those each night and LOVED it!

We will definitely cruise again and very possibly with Carnival as they showed us a great time! We might try one of the newer ships though, like the Dream, so we can have some of the perks this older, smaller ship was missing (ie Basketball, huge TV above the pool, etc).

Pros: Recently updated, great staff, serenity deck

Cons: Pool is really small,

Recommends Carnival Fascination? Yes!

Ship Quality
The ship is a little small and older but still a great ship and the recent updates helped a lot!
Cabin / Stateroom
A little small, but overall it was a nice room. The beds were more comfortable than I expected.
Service and Staff
Great! Top notch staff, we loved them!
Great entertainment. Our favs were our comedian (can't think of his name) and the Superstar Karaoke.
Food and Dining
By far one of the top 2 aspects of the ship. The staff was top notch, the food was abundant, and the server we had was amazing. I can't tell you how amazing it is to get service from someone who REALLY wants to make sure you leave just don't get that much in the US.
