Great First Time Cruise

Sail Date: August 20, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

Nice Ship. Plenty to do on board and off ship. The pool was small and therefore crowded often. The serenity deck was nice. The layout of the ship was easily to learn in order to get around. The crew was polished and professional. The waterslide was fun even for adults. There were lots of kids on board, and the passengers did look a bit like Saturday morning at Walmart.

Pros: The activities

Cons: The food

Recommends Carnival Fascination? Yes!

Ship Quality
Cleaner than any hotel. Reminded me a lot of Vegas
Entertainment
Good shows. Something for everyone.
Cabin / Stateroom
Very Clean. Easy access to towels. I loved the towel animals.
Service and Staff
The crew was awesome. Constantly moving, cleaning. By the end of the trip I began to feel that I should be helping, there was so much hard work be done.
Food and Dining
The food was less than expected. You hear about the great food on cruises and this was fair at best. This cruise was priced as "affordable" and the food was similar. The buffets were lame (frozen liquid egg product, microwave bacon, dry chicken, lots of cheap fish, cheap pizza, desserts that tasted like frozen/boxed. Ponderosa, Western Sizzlin, and Bonanza all have simliar quality. The formal dining was good but not great. This cruise did not have a steakhouse and there was very little seafood anywhere.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
The water was beautiful, clear and warm. The cabanna was great. We had three adults and could have had 3-4 more. If you are a group or family, get this! If you are just a couple find some friends and invite them along, in trade for drinks or something. AC and plenty of food. Easy access to water.
Don't Miss: The cabanna rental
Nassau, Bahamas
Nice town. Good for a walkabout.
Don't Miss: Catamaran Snorkel and sail. Great value and fun.
