Such a fun cruise!!

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

We had an excellent relaxation vacation aboard the carnival fascination. While a lot of the activities they offered cost a little bit of money, you could do a whole lot of fun things on the boat without spending a dime. The comedians and musical reviews were free, as well as the karaoke and dance parties! Our stateroom was always immaculate, any time we left the room it seemed they came in and remade the bed and refolded towels! The only complaint was that the room was extremely cold, but once we figured out how to semi-adjust the temperature it was better. We didn't purchase any shore excursion packages through carnival, but still had a fun time walking around Key West and the Bahamas by ourselves. The food was very good, and our waiter at the dining room was excellent. All of the cruise staff was extremely friendly and helpful. And although the spa is expensive, if you have a little bit of extra cash, the staff at the spa were by far the best we encountered. Our complaints were that the buffet didn't have very many vegetarian options, so we ended up eating pizza a lot more than we had anticipated. Also, the pool on the main deck was VERY small, and was always crowded with TONS of children. The only time we got to spend in the pool was when everyone was off the boat in Key West on their excursions.

Pros: The relaxation, friendly staff, clean accomodations

Cons: The rain (which carnival had no control over), the buffet options, the tiny pool

Recommends Carnival Fascination? Yes!

First of all, it was difficult to see the stage in all of the entertainment venues. And we had to get to the room up to 20 minutes early in order to get a seat that didn't have someone sitting directly in front of you or directly behind a pillar. The comedians were by far the best form of entertainment on the ship, although the musical review was entertaining.
Food and Dining
Food, as mentioned before, was great. The service was great. We chose the late dining time which worked well with the evening performances we wanted to see (and also had fewer kids)
Ship Quality
Everything was always so clean! The elevators were quick, but they were always in use so we used the stairs most of the time, but these were conveniently located and decently sized so we never had problems running into people walking up and down. As with any ship, the decks and locations of certain rooms were difficult to figure out (there was no ship map that we could find), so it took a little getting used to.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were shocked at how big our room was (we had an interior stateroom) and how comfortable the bed was! The bathroom was small, but not unmanageable. And again, the room was ALWAYS clean!
Service and Staff
We had some great interactions with our staff. First, Pierre, our stateroom attendant, was almost always present or easily reachable to help us with everything we needed. The people offering drinks on the main decks were a little pushy, but also very friendly. Once you told them no once they typically weren't as pushy the second time around. Our waiter and his assistant remembered what our preferences for drinks, food items, etc, were after the first night and offered them to us as soon as we sat down every night after that. Although we didn't drink at the bars very much, we were told by others that the bartenders were the same way. And, the spa staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, as well as very skilled. Overall we were most impressed with the quality of the ship staff over everything else.
Key West, Florida
We came to Key West in the morning, so there wasn't much to do (if you didn't purchase an excursion) aside from walking around the main street (Duval) and looking in shops. We did find a beach at the southermost point (about a 25 minute walk from Mallory Square) which was nice.
