God - I needed this vacation!

Sail Date: March 19, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

We're a family in our early 30's and we took our two children with us upon the cruise (ages 8 & 10). We simply had so much fun, we were all sad when we had to disembark the ship. The family had a really good time being able to move about the ship, up & down the floors, back n forth from the pool to the cabin, and touring around the entire ship's facilities. I, myself, needed a vacation and this was exactly what the doctor ordered. The boat was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. After all the driving we did to get to the cruise, we were oh so ready to sit, relax, and enjoy. We're from St. Louis, MO and we drove 19 hours to the Miami Port so just imagine driving that long with an 8 & 10 yr. old in the back seat asking "Are we there yet?"

Pros: Geez - just too many things to list. In shortest words possible, the pool, the Camp for our kids, the all around buffet, the staff, and the decor.

Cons: Did not like having to smell the sewage (namely in our cabin's bathroom & on the sports deck).

Recommends Carnival Fascination? Yes!

Key West, Florida
We have visited Key West several years back & nothing has really changed. We took the kids & visited the Fort Meyers beach & then we also took them into see the Florida Key West Aquarium. We were limited on time & had to make sure we were back to the trolleys to get back on the cruise by 1:15 pm. But we made the best of the situation & we played on the beach, took pictures, and explored around the old town. We must've heard the same story from the trolley drivers about 4-5 times.
Don't Miss: MMm - didn't get to really explore too much due to shortage of time.

Cozumel, Mexico
When we got to Cozumel, we wasted time trying to figure out what to plan. We hadn't previously registered for any tours because we figured we'd get there & set something up. We ended up renting a jeep through Budget Rental to explore the island ourselves. We drove around the entire island & stopped off at a couple of the beach vicinities on the east side. There was one place we stopped off that "required" to purchase something there in order to be on their facility grounds so I bought a beer for $3.00. We had drove straight down the center of Cozumel & drove through the "poverty" areas. We got to see how poverly stricken these people really are, which was sad, but at the same time, the people were nice & waved to us as if they didn't have a care in the world. My partner was excited because we stopped off at this lil' store in the middle of Cozumel & he was absolutely thrilled to see that they were selling 1 liter bottles of soda for only a buck! He was in heaven...
Don't Miss: The wooden naked statue of the lady w/ a thong in the shop off the pier!
